ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Continuing from where 2002's A Package From Home left off, Respectable Boy expands on the soaring guitar melodies and solid grooves that are the hallmark of the Bryan James Gatten Band. When the first album was released, A & R executives criticized the album, saying that the songs were too long and there were too many fade outs. On Respectable Boy, the songs are longer, and there are more fade outs. "The first sketches for the album came in the summer of 2003, which became 'Smokey Blue,'" says Bryan James Gatten. "The overall philosophy was influenced by our study of the blues and other improv-oriented styles. As a result, the project ended up having a fun vibe; a band just jamming and working off each other."

With an emphasis on original compositions, the 9 songs feature guitar, bass, drums and keys, all communicating with one another to create an exciting musical conversation.
