Reviews

"To sum it up, this album is simple, comfortable to listen to and sweet and the musicianship is outstanding. The sound is warm and you can practically feel the wooden interiors of the Nashville studio." - Arnar Eggert, Radio 2 Iceland

"This album is suitable for a cozy autumn evening in good company, with a glass of whiskey and a cigar but unfortunately I stopped smoking." - Ingimar Bjarnason - Starafugl.is

"I must honestly admit that this Icelandic-American collaboration led by Björn Thoroddsen surprised me positively." Marcin Kozicki - StacjaIslandia.pl

Bjössi

A Robben Ford Production – featuring Björn Thoroddsen and Mackenzie Wasner

A homegrown mixture of Iceland and Nashville from Robben Ford and Bjorn Thor

For decades Björn Thoroddsen, a.k.a. Bjössi, has been one of Iceland's leading jazz guitarists. A recipient of several Icelandic music awards, Björn has released many critically acclaimed albums in his home country and played with some of
the great musicians of his time such as Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Kazumi Watanabe, Tommy Emmanuel, Al Di Meola and Larry Coryell.
Recently, Björn has expanded his presence internationally, both in Europe andNorth America, and collaborated with like-minded artists. In 2015 he met Robben Ford, one of the top blues-rock guitarists of our time and they started working on this project, named after Björn's nickname: Bjössi.

Robben Ford has for a long time toured and recorded with the greats of rock, blues and jazz, including Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis and George Harrison. Björn has previously focused on instrumental music so the idea of bringing a singer into the picture seemed a fresh idea. Mackenzie Wasner’s powerhouse country-flavored vocals, which previously charmed judges on American Idol Season 12, are a perfect match for this record, which includes songs by Bjorn, Robben and Bob Dylan.

There are several things that make Bjössi unique in today's music scene. The fact that the music comes out of Iceland is important and Mackenzie's fresh yet somehow classic voice will appeal to the younger generation. The sound of Bjössi has a distinct
Icelandic-Nashville flavor and the music has a depth to it that will resonate with listeners both young and old.
