ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Cornish folk punk rockers Black Friday have released their own song in praise of the ’Obby ’Oss in Padstow as a single. The profits from the sales of the single will be donated to the charity Cornwall Air Ambulance. The single, ’Obby ’Oss, is now available from ITunes and Amazon.

“The ’Obby ’Oss is such a special day for the people of Cornwall that we wanted to write a song that reflects its great joy and passion,” said the bands singer Tom O’Reilly. “We hope the single will be well received so we can raise money for a great charity.”

Black Friday will be available for interviewing and photography at the ’Obby ’Oss, May 1st, celebrations in Padstow.

BLACK FRIDAY are a seven piece, high energy folk and Celtic punk rock band from St Germans, Cornwall. The music is a lively mix of original songs, traditional folk and cover versions. In 2011 they played over 100 gigs all over England and Europe at a variety of venues and festivals. The band are regular performers at Donauinsel Fest in Vienna, Austria, the largest music festival in the world. After playing at the renowned Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues Club in London, they were spotted by BBC Radio 2 DJ, Marc Lamarr, who invited them to record at the famous Maida Vale studio in London for his show. While they were there, they met their hero, Pogues singer Shane MacGowan, who enjoyed the band’s rendition of ‘Dirty Old Town’. In 2008, the band made it into the Guinness Book of Records for performing the most gigs in one day - 30 gigs in 12 hours!

“I really enjoyed that! Can I buy you a double Jameson!” - Shane MacGowan, the Pogues

“Having seen you live it was as a good a night as I could imagine stood in front of a band!” - Mark Lamarr, DJ, BBC Radio 2
