Album Notes
For the past five years, Blind River has been sweeping the Ontario Country club circuit...quickly climbing to the top as a fan favorite with their unmistakable signature upbeat tempo and full-throttle live performances. Breaking the ‘classic country’ mold, these boys have developed their own brand of Country with a rock and roll edge that has earned them a place on stage with the likes of Aaron Pritchett, Aaron Lines, Deric Ruttan and Amanda Wilkinson.

Nominated for “Country Group of The Year” at local Country Music Awards three straight years in a row (2007-2009), Blind River is now ready to claim their place as Recording Artists with the release of their debut single “Ready, Set, Summer”.

When asked why the band is so passionate about what they do, lead singer Kevin Bushey muses that all three band members were raised on Country music. Close friends for the past 10 years, all three members treat each other like family and that dynamic translates into an energetic show every time. Kevin describes the absolute thrill they get playing live shows: “The rush you get when you see the crowd react to your song is a bigger and better high than any drug out there for us. When you feed off of the crowd and they feed off you, the energy from that is incredible and that’s why we go out there (on stage) night after night and leave everything we got in a puddle of sweat on the stage.”

Kevin Bushey:

Kevin is the lead singer and songwriter for Blind River - his signature voice belting out tunes that will make the hairs on your arm stand up. Though he was raised on Country music, Kevin’s start in the music circuit originated in the world of rock and roll - when he was just 15 years old! With well over 20 years experience in the music industry, Kevin’s career has taken him right across Canada alongside some of the best in the business. Kevin just landed one of his co-written songs on John Landry’s “Changing Man” CD released at the end of 2010, as well as the single “Living the Dream” from Country recording artist, Stacey Zegers.

Kurk Bernard:

Kurk is the bass guitarist for Blind River. Kurk’s ability to seamlessly blend percussion and lead guitar with his smooth bass has earned him a recording opportunity with the legendary Merle Haggard. Kurk has also toured with greats such as John Landry, South Mountain and John Cody Carter - just to name a few. Playing and touring all his life, this naturally gifted singer/musician knows one thing - and knows it very well - and that’s how to entertain an audience.

Steve Petrie:

Steve plays lead guitar for Blind River. If you want to see someone who knows their way around a fret board, then you need to catch Steve at a live show. Steve has been a professional musician all his life - mastering several instruments - and is one of the busiest musicians around. Steve’s talent has earned him tours with such greats as Tommy Hunter and Stompin’ Tom Connors, just to name a few. Steve recently received his first Gold Album for his work on the Holiday Train CD, which sold over 50,000 copies in Canada.

Blind River is currently based out of Hamilton, ON.
