Album Notes
Blodwyn Pig the British rock band formed by Mick Abrahams (vocals, guitars, formerly of "Jethro Tull") Jack Lancaster (saxes, flutes, violin and wind controllers) Andy Pyle (bass), and Ron Berg (drums), have released an anthology featuring re-recorded and re-mastered recordings of the band's most beloved and successful songs "Dear Jill" "See My Way" "Drive Me" and previously unreleased materials.

Blodwyn Pig in its first form was a legend in rock history hitting the top of the LP charts in Britain and elsewhere around the world. The members received new inspiration when Cameron Crow used the recording of "Dear Jill" in his movie "Almost Famous". The original BLODWYN PIG consisted of Mick Abrahams, vocals, guitars. Jack Lancaster, sax, flutes, violin and wind controllers. Andy Pyle, bass and Ron Berg drums and was later joined by "Jethro Tull's" Clive Bunker on drums.

Many bands credit Blodwyn Pig with being a huge influence at the start of their careers. One member of Aerosmith was recently quoted in Rolling Stone as saying "there wouldn't have been an Aerosmith if there hadn't been a Blodwyn Pig" and there are many fan sites across the Internet which still attest to the band's popularity.

The band played alongside Led Zeppelin, The Who, Procul Harem, BB King, Miles Davis, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd and Joe Cocker at the Isle of Wight rock festivals, the Reading rock festival. The "Pig" completed two successful American tours playing venues like Fillmores, numerous universities and the LA Forum. Some of the recordings on BLODWYN PIG'S," PIGTHOLOGY" are from this period as well as later recorded songs from their first two albums.

PIGTHOLOGY was produced, compiled and mastered by Jack Lancaster and Mick Abrahams.

I'd Rather Live In The Past
I lived in London (1969-70) and had the pleasure of hearing Blodwyn Pig many times (Klooks Kleek, The Marquee Club, Isle of Wight - I once saw them, with Soft Machine play in a movie house prior to an all nighter of Hammer Horror films). Loved their first 2 lp's, but now we have a Pigthology ... re-hash with thick sound and dense overdubbing of tunes I like much more in their original - and youthful state. I'd pass on this one - even Pig Phanatics will Phind Phatal Phault

What a killer album!
Picked up this CD a while ago and its not left my cd player since. Great tracks and production. Good to see that the band put together something to replace the bootlegs and ripoff copies.

The Pig is Back!!!
I am floored by this release! I have been a Pig fan from the start. It was refreshing to hear the band do a few remakes of songs from their first and second LP's. Combined with live, new and unreleased tracks gives the Band a fresh face. I hope/pray this is a springboard for more new music to come from the Pig. This is a Band that can combime all the eliments of Rock,Pop,Blues,Jazz and make it creditable. The remake/new versions of See My Way, Dear Jill, just floor me. All though us Pig fans love the original studio versions. It was just refreshing to hear the band play those songs in a new way, I loved it. This whole CD is killer! a must have for all Pig fans to enjoy and introduce to a whole new generation of listeners.

A "must have" for fans of the Pig! Seminal blues/rock/jazz at it's best.
Carefully chosen tracks showcase the band live in it's heyday and modern re-recordings of their classic tunes combine to paint an equisite sonic portrait of this oft-neglected but highly influential band.

Hot Rock, Cool Blues, The innovative Pig in its original form
I've been a fan of the pig for many years and loved the
first two albums. Since then I've bought a few CDs
with the Blodwyn name tag, some terrible recorded live
bootlegs and some with different personnel. All of it
unsatisfying. So I thought Pigthology was going to be
cut from the same cloth. How wrong I was, this album drives,
punches and feels good, The original band still has the
spirit that got them there in the first place. I love
the re-recorded version of See My Way and the instrumental
track Monkinit took me on a very pleasant journey.
It's all exciting. What about a live tour?

Mick Farren

Pigthology is a much needed collection of gems from Blodywyn Pig

The significance of Blodwyn Pig, and how they fused rock and jazz without,
at any time, approaching the horror of fusion, is unquestionably a part of
rock & roll history. The sad factor has been that, for decades, Blodwyn Pig
enthusiasts have been forced to content themselves with the band's two
original two albums "Get Into This", and "Ahead Rings Out", plus a dubious
bunch of less than satisfactory bootlegs. It's only now, thanks to the hard
work of Blodwyn hornman Jack Lancaster and guitarist Mick Abrahams, that a
new and permanent chapter in the history is now preserved on CD. "Pigthology"
is a much needed collection of gems that extend from ancient studio masters
hidden in the vaults since the early seventies, all the way to more recent
tracks cut either in Abrahams's studio in Bedfordshire, or Lancaster's in
Los Angeles. Among the other stand-outs are live recordings from a 1974
tour, a show at London's Marquee Club, and a John Peel BBC radio show. It's
been a hell of a long wait for more good stuff from Blodwyn, but mercifully
(like the Rolling Stones once remarked) it's all over now.

Pigthology : a real and long awaited gem !
This cd was delivered to me a few days ago. I had been waiting for it to arrive for more than 30 years ( Not that delivery took that long, but the Vaults had not been visited for so long I guess ) !
And I agree with what Mick Farren says. What a gem this cd is ! Maybe there is more to come from the vaults ? Would be great. Again. Vraiment, vive Pigthology, vive Blodwyn Pig !
