Album Notes
Matt Lube and Luke Elms started out their musical careers together in the summer of 2011 in a local Orlando band called Redwax. The band, consisting of Matt (bass) and Luke (vocals / guitars) and co-worker Chad Smith (vocals / guitars) recorded an album titled "The Calm Before" in the spring of 2014. Dan Purcell tracked drums on the album. In the years leading up to the recording of that album, Matt and Luke enjoyed writing and playing together and doing a few shows out as an "electric duo." What started out as just jamming when the rest of Redwax was busy has led to more than just a side project - a new band, and a bunch of new songs. BLUEANIMAL.

We recently got in the studio in the studio in May 2015 to record 13 new songs, plus a couple of surprises. Some of the material didn't make, or quite fit the Redwax project, and many others are songs that we've written together as of late. We think you are going to really like what we are putting together. We are hoping to give you a little more of an alternative country vibe to what we are doing, but you'll see a wide array of genres. Luke and I have spent countless hours in our home studio writing, recording rough demos and constantly changing these songs - are are really happy how they ended up. We were able to get everything we wanted to record done, and our hard work has paid off. We are also working on assembling a full band locally so we can get out on the town and play for you all what we are writing. For our recent recording, we were so excited to have Luke's childhood friend and former high school bandmate Jarrod Moore (Tulsa, OK) join us on lead guitar, and were especially excited that original Redwax drummer Ryan Wright (Delray Beach, FL) laid down the drum tracks ! ! Prior to getting into the studio - we got together with Ryan and Jarrod for a weekend of rehearsals and a gig - and despite being away from us for a couple of years, Ryan didn't miss a beat (literally !!) and Jarrod - having never played with us before - knew all of our songs. It was so much fun. For the most part the recording sessions thankfully were just as smooth. Luke and Matt also recently had the opportunity to open as an acoustic duo for Johnny HIckman of Cracker as he was in Florida for a string of house shows, one of which we hosted. He was also gracious enough to ask us to sit in with him on a few of his songs. It was a night to remember to say the least. Stay tuned for more on the growth of our new band, our new record, some dates out on the town - and hell, hopefully new demos for another record in 2016 ! !
