Belleview

by Blue Cloud Ruffians

You could say that we sound like early Guns N Roses meets Joy Division musically with Morrissey meets Mick Jagger vocally.

Biography
Blue Cloud Ruffians is based out of Barnwell, SC. The musical core of BCR consists of thundering drummer, Johnny "J.T." Tedder, pounding bassist and backing vocalist, Philip "Pip" Hutto, and psychotic guitarist, P.R. McMurphy. Lead vocal duties and rhythm guitar are handled by the inimitable Edward Lemon, Jr. We have been together, in some form (Vapid, Ellzey, Opening Act), on and off for over 5 years. Our sound has evolved from Replacements, Guns N Roses, and Joy Division covers to originals like the hard rocking "Wisteria King" and "The Key", dreamy, pulsing "Things in Dreams" and "Pterodactyl Man", the country, bar-flavored "Two Moon", and the epic ballad, "Garden Promenade." All of our members bring diverse textures and influences to the music. We are always in the process of booking gigs to showcase our unique originals and idiosyncratic taste in covers. After years spent honing our distinct blend, we are ready to take over your world. We have just finished our first 6-song E.P., "The Belleview E.P." It was self-recorded, produced, and mixed in Belleview, the palatial estate of the late, great Rodman Lemon, grandfather of our lead singer, Edward Lemon Jr. We take pride in rocking out the south. We do not play southern rock, but we carry on the tradition of immortalizing the South Carolinian gothic legends of our youth, just as R.E.M. did for Georgia. A short list of influences...well as short as we can make it...The Replacements, Joy Division, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, GnR (the original line-up), Tool, The MF'n Crue, Wilco, Velvet Underground, Dylan, The Libertines, Babyshambles, Oasis, The Smiths, Lemonheads, Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, The Cars, Big Star, Bowie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Gram Parsons, The Byrds, Uncle Tupelo, Whiskeytown, Elliott Smith, Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon, Placebo, Zappa, Iron & Wine, Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service, Fugazi, The Cure, R.E.M., The White Stripes, Matthew Sweet, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Tom Petty, Nirvana, The Killers, The Pixies...you get the idea.

Love the blend of the vocals, drums, and guitar...very unique.
This is the best CD I have ever gotten for under 10.00. The vocals are flawless, the lyrics are REAL and creative and the music just basically rocks!!! I love the drumming... Pterodactyl Man is addictive, and I just love "The Key". Those two songs sound like songs you would hear from more well known bands. I enjoy the distinct sound.
