Album Notes

How we got started:

Audrey, “Stephen, do you want to start a band?”

Stephen, “……”

Two weeks later…

Stephen, “OK.”

And so Blue Ridge Arrangement was born. In between teaching, photographing, and playing music, we began writing the winter of 2013. Our name comes from our geographic roots in Bedford & Roanoke, VA. Our songs come from God, nature, children’s toys, & the friends, family, authors, & thinkers who have influenced us.

We began by asking our friends and family to support us on kickstarter and social media. And WOW, did they come through. In our first weeks on social media, they brought hundreds of new fans to us and helped our kickstarter go well above our intended goal. We wouldn’t even be this far without them.

What we’re about:

We aim to craft albums, not songs. We believe that a great album is one that creates a cohesive story, both lyrically and musically. One that takes you on a journey, much like a great film. Many of our “songs” were written intentionally as preludes or outros to feature songs, such is the case with Prisoner & Canyon and Bridge’s End. Bridge’s End is under two minutes long and was never intended to be a stand alone song. It’s only purpose is to be listened to after Prisoner & Canyon. For this reason, we invite you to enjoy our album as a whole.

Beyond the desire for continuity lies a deeper passion. We want our lyrics to have great meaning. Much thought and care was put into the significance behind each line in the songs you hear. We realize ours songs are our voice and we want to take advantage as well as we can.

Thank you so much for reading about us!

- Stephen and Audrey
