ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Review by Jimmy Olander of 4-Time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Winners & 12-Time Grammy Award Nominated DIAMOND RIO.

"Last Set Of The Night"... The 15 song debut by Brendan Loughrey & Bluestack does not disappoint. This no-punches-pulled album is a testament to the undying passion & resilience of the Irish. Few acts have the following or fortitude to release such a record and only the infamous Wolfe Tones come to mind as I listen to the rebel attitude inherent in each and every track. "Please Don't Die Willie Nelson" is an original and hysterical attack on pop music and simply must be heard. The vocal's on the opening song "Natives" are astounding and Chuck Berry was right to have this kid open for him, refering to Bluestacks' Irish born frontman Brendan Loughrey. Another gem on this album is "Back Home In Derry", a song fused from the melody of Gordon Lightfoot's "Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald" and the haunting, visionary lyrics of Bobby Sands MP, a political prisoner who give his life while on hunger strike in Northern Ireland on May 5th 1981. Another track truly worth a mention is "Go On Home British Soldiers", a rebel song if ever there was one and this is the tune that got Brendan barred from every "Fado's Irish Pub" in the United States! Even the CD itself looks and feels like and old vinyl 45 record. A thought provoking and intensely passionate debut and a "must have" CD.
*Explicit lyrics tracks 8 & 14.

Awsome, great quality on all levels
Would love to see these live.Great Irish Rebel/Punk crossover.Had everything, good songs I hadn't heard before like Stumpy's Bray, the rocking Please Don't Die Willy Nelson and best of all an outstanding rendition of Go On Home, which is bouncing, could spend all day in the mosh pit to that! There's also a few slower paced dittos for the traditionalists, all ending with the haunting and emotional Give It Back which powerfully marches into Amhrán na bhFiann. A standout.Keep up the good work.

Destined to join the ranks of other great Irish/rock acts....
Natives is a decent beginning track, but it is 'Boys of The Old Brigade' that sets the tone for this CD. 'Fields of Athenry', 'Green Fields of France', 'Black and Tans', everything is great. Its also notable that you can't say they sound like the Pogues or any other Irish Rock act out there. They have their own distinctive sound. Not the easiest thing to pull off today. 'Please Don't Die Willie Nelson' had me rolling on the ground laughing. I hope to hear more of their work.

CD is very good, worth every penny. Lyrics are passionate and this CD is a must buy. Have seen them in person multiple times around Chicagoland and this CD does not give anything less than the best these guys have to offer. Cheers!
