ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
BLUES LEGEND MR. LONG JOHN BALDRY SAYS....

"Bobby is one of Canada's great young guitarists and his talent is equal to many of the world's great guitarists"

WELCOME MY FRIENDS:

Thanks for dropping in and taking a look. Thought I would give you an idea of what reels me in as an artist and what moves me as a human being.

The message of the music and they way it hopefully touches someone out there is the most important part to me. It has got to speak and force me to think about things. All my songs come from real life experiences and everyday situations. The way I live and the way I write are connected. Hopefully, I will connect with you!

This was my Debut CD. I was blending roots-rock with the blues. I was still very electric while introducing myself as a singer songwriter. The CD was basically built around two tracks in the beginning mixed with a lot of good times and laughter with friends in the studio.

"Human Fortress".... describes the emotional walls we can build in any relationship. How we try to protect ourselves from any type of pain. Resisting the unveiling of the parts we desperately want to hide. I wrote this out of personal experience with the struggles I went through as a human being to find out what I honestly stood for.

The beginning guitar riff in Human Fortress came to me during along drive. Driving is usually where a lot of my song ideas come from. However, people who pass me on the highway probably think I blew a mental fuse!

"The Other Side".... I wrote about my two high school buddies Jimmie and Ian after their passing. We used to spend our weekends drinking and dreaming. They would sit in the corner of my garage while I played along to all our favorite records at volume 1000 plus! This is my dedication to them and their families.

The funniest moments during the course of this CD were working with producer Randy Staub and driving him into uncontrollable laughter with my impression of John Wayne. Getting a phone call from SOCAN to register "Human Resources" in stead of "Human Fortress". I am still laughing over that one!

I remember being in Los Angeles, mastering this CD with the legendary Bernie Grundman. I was sitting beside Bernie when I noticed some master reels lying on the floor with the name Michael Jackson written on them. Trying not to look excited, I realized this was Jackson's new master of his single "Scream". That was a big thrill for me, never to be forgotten.

Thanks again for taking the time.....

Bobby

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This was Bobby's debut CD. It passed through many hands before its completion. In its early stages, Bobby was working with a young Producer / Engineer named Marek Forysinski, who was living in Edmonton, AB, Canada, at the time, and has since relocated to Los Angeles. Marek is truly a great talent with an amazing ear for achieving great sounds in a recording studio. They worked together, on and off, over a period of 3 to 4 years.

From there, Bobby had the opportunity to work with Legendary Engineer / Producer Randy Staub. Randy is a Juno Award Winning Engineer / Producer who has worked with Bob Rock for many years. He has been involved in projects for bands ranging from U2 to the present day Nickleback. Bobby's involvement with Randy was launched through a song-writing competition Bobby entered called "Mix 96 Super Session". It was his lucky day when Randy, after hearing all the entries, chose Bobby as the artist he wanted to record. Bobby said he had so much fun recording with Randy; the atmosphere was conducive for creativity and freedom, which was ideal for his personality. Much was accomplished and they always found time to laugh. Bobby thought he drove Randy crazy with the constant repetition of his John Wayne impression. On the Master DAT Recordings, between takes, Bobby can be heard attempting said impression. Bobby's reaction was, "What can I say; I am a true Cape Bretoner".

Bobby recorded this project at Beta Sound Studios and Homestead Studios in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mixing the CD took place at The Green House Studios in Vancouver. He was accompanied by the amazing Darrel Mayes on Drums, Dennis Marcenko on Bass, and Rick Hopkins on Hammond B3. This crew of rockers was noted for their great work and years spent performing with Colin James and Bobby considers them to be great people and great friends. He also employed the amazing Bass talents of Mike Lent, and of course the magic of Guitarist / Singer / Producer, Mark Puffer. Marek Forysinski, along with engineering and producing, played additional Hammond B3. Gary Koliger, owner of Beta Sound Studios, played acoustic guitars, pedal steel, and piano. He performed an amazing pedal steel track on If I Wait There For You.

A wonderful introduction to Canada's newest triple threat of talent!!
Our first introduction to this extremely talented Canadian singer/songwriter with his self-titled CD certainly commands our attention.

It opens with a smooth and mellow track – "Human Fortress" – beautifully written by Bobby, about the walls we build around ourselves, and the struggle to allow those who care, to break those walls down. The song is very easy paced and we are given the notion that Bobby Cameron is a nice pop driven/ballad writing man.

To fool you though, along comes "Hidden Heroes", with its southern rock guitar licks, we soon find out that pop driven ballads are not what Bobby is all about. Masterly pulling off this heavy hitting tune, with that constant bluesy guitar, proving his versatility to move effortlessly from ballad to rock.

In case there was ever any doubt that Bobby is not a rocker through and through, all you need do is listen to "Wakin’ Up" and "Eternally". These two tracks run back to back on the CD.

Powerful licks announce you are "Wakin’ Up", and instantly you know you are about to have our socks rocked off! Bobby’s powerful vocal kicks in and the treat begins! Showing he can rock out with the best of them, your toe starts tapping and its very hard to sit still, while you are treated to a high energy, high powered track.

Now that Bobby has your attention, he rolls right into "Eternally". Opening with a single low keyboard note .. which seems to last forever, you sit in anticipation, waiting for .. what .. you aren’t quite sure, till the Hammond B and deliberate guitar chords blast at you. Bobby’s powerful voice kicks in and again .. you hear the rocker within the man. The guitar solo we are treated to is masterfully played and as good as any rocking axe man in the business. Strong percussion keeps the beat going until Bobby is finished with pounding our senses with these two very hard hitting tracks.

Now that we are totally exhausted, things slow down .. almost thankfully .. after such a workout from the previous two tracks. Again, moving completely without effort to a beautifully written track called "The Other Side". This song truly hit a nerve for me personally. Anyone dealing with the questions after the loss of a loved one, will certainly identify with "The Other Side". Beautiful acoustic sounds open the track, and carry you through lyrics telling of uncertainty, anger and longing.

Just to make sure you are awake, Bobby pounds you again with "High Gear Expandable". Another high energy rocker with a sound reminiscent of U2’s Elevation, with its in your face “here I am” opening.

Closing out the CD is yet another taste of Bobby’s wonderful talent. "Me And You", one kick ass rocking blues tune, again showing Bobby belongs right up there with any of the more well known blues men of our time, or any time!

As a first release, “Bobby Cameron” gives us a taste of the talent, desire and heart of a musician who .. at the time of its release .. certainly possesses what it takes to be a star! Bobby Cameron – the artist – has since released 2 other studio albums and is set to release #4 in the spring of 2006. His gift to music, and to those who love music is unquestionable and I for one am looking forward to more masterpieces from this very talented countryman!
