Album Notes
Bobby Jasinski, a native of New York City, started piano at age five. Mr. Jasinski studied piano with Andrej Sykora, Spencer Schuyler, Tanya Kodinsky, Rosita Kerr Mang, Claudia Stevens and Christine Niehaus. The winner of numerous state and national competitions (including the Baldwin East Coast Competition and the Virginia State Concerto Competition), Mr. Jasinski embraced jazz piano in college under the tutelage of Eric Lyttle and Harris Simon.

Mr. Jasinski has made appearances at the Swedish and French Embassies, the World Bank, the National Press Club, HR-57, Twins Jazz, The Kennedy Center and the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., as well as countless venues in Richmond, VA, the Hampton Roads area, New York City, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He has had the honor of performing (and having masterclasses) with Chick Corea, McCoy Tyner, Evgeny Kissin, Emanuel Ax, George Robert and Cyrus Chestnut. Additionally, Mr. Jasinski has written many compositions that have received local attention, including his 24 Preludes for Piano, Piano Suite No. 1, String Suite No. 1 and several jazz originals.

A 2012 D.C. CapitalBop Honorable Mention Album of the Year, CapitalBop Editor Giovanni Russonello states "A Speck in Time" is a "solid debut album, which spotlights 11 lilting original compositions and an expert trio. With a steady touch and versatility with groove, Jasinski pulls together a host of influences: Herbie Hancock's warm angularity; the pelting of Chick Corea; dreamlike, trebly echo a la Robert Glasper [and] a deep, washing flow of rhythm that comes from Ahmad Jamal."

good music
CD is a nice surprise. I never heard of this guy, but saw him perform in No VA recently, and picked up his CDs, and I'm impressed. Straight up jazz, not the boring "smooth jazz" stuff, not too modern where the melody gets lost in improvisation. Very nice.
