Album Notes
2011: New all original CD from New York City Blues Artist Bobby Radcliff. "Freaking Me Out" features eleven tracks. Radcliff maintains his unique guitar stylings here. This is also the first Radcliff CD to feature his slide guitar work (Blackhearted Woman & Indiana Woman). The song writing mixes Radcliff's standard Chicago Blues influences with a cross of funk and rock. It's his most innovative and creative work too date. Check out the instrumentals "Tango Whip" and "Quake" to hear these unique new influences. Lyrics from a lifetime of blues, pain, and sorrow.
This CD was recorded live at Danielson Downstairs Studios in San Francisco with Chris Matheos (bass) and Robert Danielson (drums). Session drummer Jan Jackson also appears (Bad Dreams). Produced by Bobby Radcliff, co-produced by Chris Matheos. In recent years, Bobby Radcliff has become well known for his "outsider art" paintings. This CD features Radcliff's original artwork (as seen on the front cover, etc).

Back 7 Better than Ever!!
NYC Bluesman Bobby Radcliff has released his first CD since 2004. It's by far his most interesting & creative to date. It's Radcliff's first all original CD and it's totally unique. It was recorded in San Francisco with his west coast band and has a much different vibe than his previous cd's. RAW, LIVE, and super energetic. Radcliff's new tunes mix his west side blues playing with a San Francisco rock vibe. In 50 years Radcliff will probally be remembered as The Iggy Pop of Blues or should i say The Van Gogh of Blues. (ps-that is his artwork on the cover)!! I love this cd!!

Blistering New Blues from Bobby Radcliff - All Original Music!
"Freaking Me Out" is the newly released brainchild of New York City blues man Bobby Radcliff, who has released a string of consistently stellar blues albums in the past. This is his first album of all-original music, penned by Radcliff himself.

Bobby Radcliff has a very distinct style of playing and singing the blues, which has been inspired in large part by the late great Magic Sam of Chicago but essentially has become Bobby's very own sound signature in an inimitable and personal way. Of course, all of the best blues are personal, and when Bobby plays and sings the blues, it's hard to get any more personal than that. Come to his live show, and you'll see what I mean. It doesn't hurt also that Bobby Radcliff is easily one of the world's best guitar players and a very strong and spirited singer. Combine with that Bobby's penchant for spontaneity and high-voltage intensity, and you have yourself a wicked, wicked musician in Bobby Radcliff.

With this album, Bobby has charted a new direction toward the more raw, unfiltered, and edgy compared to his previous efforts. This album is also recorded "live in studio" using vintage tube equipment like his previous "Natural Ball" album, but "Freaking Me Out" is decidedly more personal, decidedly more in your face, and decidedly more biting. There are no overdubs, just straight trio setting recorded in a home studio of one of Bobby's associates in California. The first tune is especially infectious, a Southern rocker somewhat reminiscent of the simple and raw CCR sound, but there are many other notable songs like the beautiful "Billy's Nocturn" instrumental, the wrenching "Bad Dreams", and the morbid "Emergency Room" where Bobby sings "watching old folks die always made me feel so sad... emergency room, the most fun I ever had". As is expected with Bobby Radcliff, the guitar work is incredible (Bobby uses a beautiful Gibson Les Paul these days) and should be a delight for any fan of electric guitar to listen to. He's joined by his long-time associate Chris Matheos on bass, as well as Robert Danielson on drums.

I highly recommend buying and listening to "Freaking Me Out" because it is a highly engaging record from one of the most overlooked blues men ever, and once you discover Bobby Radcliff, you'll likely be a life-long fan. After listening to this album, try to make it a goal to go see Bobby Radcliff live (he is based in NYC but travels occasionally) - he is incredible.
