Album Notes
"Diven's songwriting is simple, clever and nakedly insightful. In fact, if all that insight comes from his own first-hand experience, we have to pity the poor guy."

Lisa Parker, The Las Cruces Bulletin

“The tracks range from the truly lovely…to the truly side-splitting.”

S. Derrickson Moore, The Las Cruces Sun News

“Play With Yourself” is a live concert recording of a sold-out performance at the Black Box Theater in Las Cruces, New Mexico of Singer/Songwriter Bob Diven’s original songs -- some serious, some not so serious -- performed solo and with a host of talented musicians (including Steve Smith) in a series of duets and ensemble pieces, ending with "Paint You Naked" backed up by a church choir!

Voted "Best Songwriter" by local newspaper reader’s polls, Diven has performed as a singer/songwriter in venues around the region and on local public radio. His song “NOW” was recently featured on NPR.ORG. He has also written songs for an award-winning educational computer game, as well as composing for band, orchestra and the stage. His new musical “EXTINCTION: A Love Story” is scheduled for an October, 2007 production by the Dona Ana Lyric Opera at New Mexico State University.

Bob has worked primarily as a visual artist and designer, and is an internationally published illustrator and award-winning painter. He is currently touring his original one-man theatrical show “John Singer Sargent: Painting Madame X”, which he wrote and in which he portrays the life of this famous Victorian artist. The play was directed for the stage by Tony Award-winning playwright Mark Medoff, and is a selection of the New Mexico Humanities Council.

Bob is 47, single, and lives and works in Las Cruces, New Mexico. More information about Bob and his work can be found at his website:
