Album Notes
First Contact

You came down from the sky
Said you meant no harm
With your eyes upon my woman
And your feet upon my farm

And you brought the finest gun
That ever was made to kill
So we shot you in the back
And put your bones up in the hills

Seven days and you came again
with a hundred hungry men
said, “let’s try this thing again
did you catch my name yet, friend?”

Yes, I know your name
I know your name is doom
‘cause you suck out all the air
when you came into the room

and you wanted golden stones
brought down from the streams
you were laughing about a trade
like I wouldn’t know what you mean

‘cause you thought I was your fool
and you’re the better man
so I sharpened my stone tools
and I killed you once again

seven days and you came once more
like the time you came before
said, “let’s get down to the core
I think you know what I came here for”

I know why you’re here
You’ve not come to make a home
Yeah, I know why you’re here
You’ve come to suck blood from the stones

With a bible in your left hand
Your right hand holds the knife
You got me on the run
I’m hiding in the night

Excellent CD
Simple Machines is one of the best cd's I've heard in years. Very original and organic. There's a positive vibe throughout the cd. It's refreshing to listen to it.

Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Better than 98 percent of the CD's out there
Bob's CD is mystical, magical, beautiful. It's an acoustic-flavored album where he out-Dylans Dylan and out-Donovan's Donovan and even comes close to the acoustic glory days of Rod Stewart before Rod turned to disco. Bob is a great songwriter, a great singer, and a great guitarist. This is one of my favorite CD's. Buy it! You will love it!

I loved it. I liked the singular sound Mr. Elliott acheived. It was like I could close my eyes and see all of the players sitting in a semi-circle and playing live in front of me. Of course "all of the players" were Bob. He achieved a extremely intimate sound on this album.

Oh, and I was dissappointed when it was over. I wanted to hear more.

Real and genuine and awesome
This is the way it should be done. This CD is a very pleasant journey. Extremly well done in ever sense of the word. Feels like you are listening live in your living room to some of the most magical and real music I have heard in a long time.
Check it out, you won't be disapointed.

Finding its way into heavy rotation on my home system
Here's an artist who not only understands what makes a song legitimate, but one who can deliver those elements. Clever vocal phrasing, honest delivery and nice chops abound on this record.

I love the spirit
The flow of the music throughout the album is inviting, fluid and it will dowse you with his organic honesty. All the material presented will stop your own ‘inner chatter’ and draw you into another far more peaceful place. This CD is a real transfer of thoughts and feelings through music and song – communication beyond all barriers. Get to know ‘simple machines’

Great melodies
I've always enjoyed Bob's way with words and melody. This is a great release with a nice vibe all the way through. Some really fine sounding guitars and nice arrangements.
