Album Notes
Bob Hendren hasn’t been heard from since the late 70’s when he played in the Christian Rock band Rorhbacker, Hendren & Kingen. He left that group for personal reasons and hadn’t performed in public or recorded until 2007. During those years, however, he continued to write occasional songs and play guitar. Although his musical training started with classical piano, the main influences in his music were the blend of folk, rock and blues that shaped music in the late 60’s and early 70’s. In the mid 90’s he began to focus on the blues and his music, although quite varied, began to evolve in that direction. Although the blues had always been the basis for his lead playing, he didn’t feel he was finding the essence of what makes the blues so compelling.

It wasn’t an easy journey. The blues have to be personal to have power, it’s not about the notes, or even the phrasing; it’s about letting the music flow out of you rather than trying to sound good. An even greater challenge was to weave this musical honesty into songs whose purpose was to bring glory to God. People today don’t think about the blues as a form of Christian music, but the blues originated with spiritual singing and the idea of pouring our souls out to God in music is firmly rooted in Psalms.

Finally, after nearly losing the use of his left hand, Bob started playing seriously again in 2006 and new music started to be born. Not blues, for the most part, but not what you would expect from a Christian artist either. Rock, Jazz, Pop and Blues are fused with heartfelt lyrics that connect with a wide range of people.

All of this has led to the 2009 release of Everyone Knows, a collection of 11 songs that are as varied in style as everyday life, but as grounded and purposeful as a life lived by faith. The CD will challenge you, encourage you, bless you and rock you. It's how David would have sounded if he had grown up in the 60's listening to Clapton instead of becoming King.
