ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New Brunswick native Bob Jensen has released a collection of spoken word poetry entitled, “A Blossom for Job.” The fifteen poems were written over the past five years and reflect the author’s own ambivalence towards the Christian faith he was raised in. The material ranges from reverent to critical, questioning the nature of man, the efficacy of faith and the meaning of death. Twice Pulitzer-nominated American poet John Guzlowski says of the new collection that, “Like that other great Canadian poet and writer Leonard Cohen, Bob Jensen raises important questions about faith and life, the world we want to live in and the world we live in, in language that is always personal, always intimate, always engaging.”

Jensen has been incredibly busy writing over the past three years, and has several major projects on the go, including a book of 100 poems interpreting the paintings of French-Russian artist, Marc Chagall and another spoken word audio book called Other Voices, which will feature more than a dozen artists from North America, Europe, Australia and Africa performing his poetry. Artists include Canada’s Sylvia Tyson and Lennie Gallant, England’s Oysterband, American bluesman Guy Davis and Australian folk-rock legend, Shane Howard. The Chagall project is currently in the hands of his agent, while Other Voices is still a work in progress. The Zimbabwean group, Black Umfolosi is planning to release an entire CD of Jensen’s poetry, which they have set to music, in 2019 or 2020 and will tour the material around the world.
