Pour It On

by Bob Sima

Infectious positive messages wrapped in percussive acoustic guitar, rich piano and sultry soulful vocals. Sometimes delicate, sometimes raucous. Dripping with intelligent lyrics in a record that is so diverse it has a new eclectic genre.

Album Notes
Stave Magazine Review by: Christy Claxton

It's really rare that I receive a CD that I can honestly say doesn't have a weak track. With Bob Sima's Pour It On, I can say that. This is one first class, "feel good" recording, and it is extremely infectious. This is one that I'll play over and over and over. It's upbeat, groovy, warm, comfortable and ultra listenable. And the star of this production is Sima's voice. He's just got one of those perfectly accessible sets of pipes that will please everyone.

I actually found out about Sima via one of those annoying listserv thingies for house concert hosts. That's my other musical endeavor. I host a house concert. I wouldn't have paid any attention to the post if it hadn't coupled him with Nadine Goellner, and I had just written a glowing review of her latest release. Therefore, knowing what a smokin' talent Goellner is, I figured this Sima guy must be damn good to share a show with her. Then I forgot about it until Bob contacted me. I pretty much let him know he was a "shoe in" at Stave because of Goellner, and I am not disappointed with the disc he sent. Not at all.

Pour It On is a wonderful mixture of folk, rock, and pop with a tiny dash of gospel and blues. In a sense, it's the very best of what it means to be all-American. Sima calls his music, "good music for good people," so he lets you know right up front you deserve it. Without realizing I was doing it, I became aware that I was dancing in my chair while listening to Pour It On. You know? That happy dance we sometimes distractedly move into because our psyche feels so damn good?

So yes. This is good music. Don't deny yourself the joy of Pour It On.

...OK Now I'm off to turn on the vacuum cleaner or blender to cleanse my head of singing along to the final cut on this CD ("Don't Die With Your Music"). Otherwise, no one else will get reviewed today…

bright and hopeful.... lifts the spirit above the mundane....
At a time when optimism is in short supply, "Pour It On" delivers.... bright, hopeful.... it makes you want to sing and dance and lifts the spirit above the mundane.... a musical mainstay.... we love it so much....

pour it on: put it on, then dig in!
This album runs the gamut from quiet and reflective to funky and TURN IT UP! Somewhere between Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson you'll find Bob Sima's own unique sound. You're gonna love this one.

Pour It On
I ended up hearing Bob Sima by default. I went to see Jesse Harris and Bob was the opening act. I loved what I heard and bought this CD. It is now one of my favorites, and I am letting everyone I know listen to it. I have even had a few friends as for copies (but I know copying CDs is bad Karma!) Every song on the CD is terrific. Keep it up and keep pushing WRNR-this music is perfect for their playlist. Let me know when the next CD is out!

WOW. and did i mention WOW!!!
This is the best CD I've heard since Krista Detor's Mudshow or Robbie Schaefer's In The Flesh. First, Bob Sima is a great songwriter. A great storyteller. These songs are great with Bob solo, and with the group of musicians on the disc, they are hard to top. Bob's voice is clear and strong, and Krista Detor/David Weber give this collection a richness rarely found. This is a must have if you love singer/songwriters. Your ears will love you for it...

An excellent CD - should be getting more airplay!
Bob Sima has produced a wonderful CD, and I'm surprised it is not getting more attention nationwide. I've been listening to it in my car, and the songs are easily as good, if not considerably better, than the stuff that we hear on the radio all the time from people like John Mayer and Dave Matthews. Bob is a tremendously talented songwriter; not only are the tunes catchy, but also the lyrics are clever and often thought-provoking. The song "Gravity" is one of the best on the CD, in my opinion, and not just because it has a talking hummingbird in it! I highly recommend that you listen to the CD, and go see Bob live if you have the opportunity.

For lack of better words, this CD is amazing. It blends in to all moods and settings (dinner parties, campfires, happy hours, in the car, making dinner...) and is the perfect answer for music that all generations enjoy. It is by far the most played CD in our home.

Quality songwriting and a solid studio performance ... it's good!
Whether on this CD or live, Bob Sima performs his songs with style and confidence. There are no 'filler' tracks ... the songwriting is first-class all the way. Buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful voice and songs
Bob is quite the story teller. I met him at a house concert and have been a fan ever since. He has a wonderful song-writing style and a beautiful voice. All his songs come up on my IPOD frequently played list.

Amazed by Bob
My 87-year-old Irish grandfather put it best, as he closed his blind eyes to listen more closely: \"Boy, that\'s good, Mary.\" Like standing outside with the rain coming down around you. On behalf of Papa: Thanks Bob. You\'ve made your mark.

Beautiful music
Last Resort was the first Bob Sima song I heard and I have been hooked on this album since. His voice, the spot on harmony and music accompanying it all, wow! Every song is a work of art.
