Album Notes
What started out as a holiday for myself in the winter of 2013 turned into my first album. Some say it was about time, and frankly... they're right! It's a wonderful experience and I'm grateful for having such a fantastic band on this cd.
Three unforeseen events led to all of this. A lesson with great pianist and teacher David Berkman, who suggested to come back to New York and make a record, a “sit in” on a concert with Peter Bernstein when I was back in The Hague, and a tweet that was passed on to me from Grammy nominated producer Ben Rubin.
The making of NYC Unforeseen opened my eyes for all the things that are possible in this modern age, crowd funding to be the most important one of them. Without your support I couldn't have realized it and therefore I want to thank you all!
New York gives me the energy to fly, and with most impressive band gives this energy an enormous boost. Pete, Dez, and Billy, you guys rock! It's cats like you, Ben, David and all of those who worked with me and supported me during the process that make the world of jazz such a great place to be in.

"Bob Wijnen is a fine pianist, who has assembled a terrific band of some of New York’s top jazz players for his debut recording. NYC Unforeseen is a great CD, fresh music from a mature pianist/composer who has honed his own swinging, lyrical voice as a player and composer. Not to be missed!" – David Berkman

Great album, Bob!
Good music and a lovely recording, too!
Now we have to wait for the vinyl version, so you can listen to it yourself on your new Rega record player!
