Album Notes
Bodesattva is a musical entity hailing from New Orleans that consists of Tom Goicoechea on drums, Eric Klerks on bass, Josh Titford on guitar, Dave Brisson on keyboard, and David Bode on saxophone. The members of Bodesattva are from across the United States but met while studying music at Loyola University New Orleans. All have been active on the New Orleans music scene for many years playing a wide variety of music. Bodesattva draws on the wide range of experience of its members to create a unique style of music that encompasses multiple genres from Jazz to Funk to New Orleans R&B to Hip-Hop to Reggae to Blues and more. Their debut album, Arrival, showcases their versatility and their talents as performers and composers and is receiving consistent radio play on both 91.5 WTUL and 90.7 WWOZ. Bodesattva’s repertoire consists of the original compositions by the members as well as a wide variety of covers. As all are experienced jazz musicians, jazz standards make up part of the repertoire but they put a unique spin on their arrangements to truly make them their own. Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Salsa, African music, and Classic Rock also provide a library of covers and influence the original compositions of the band. These covers also provide an opportunity for various members of the band to show off their vocal chops. Bodesattva has appeared at Banks St Bar, The Shiloh, Tipitina’s, The Howlin’ Wolf, and the Dragon’s Den in New Orleans as well as the Caterie in Baton Rouge. Recently, Bodesattva gained a residency at the Banks St Bar where they play every Tuesday and they hope to parley this residency into a city wide following. Bodesattva is trying to make a name for itself in New Orleans and Louisiana as a great band that always does something a little different but always makes the audience have fun.
