ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Very contemporay sound, fresh, flavored with Texas style, Chicago style, and a little bit of Rhythm and Blues and ballad.

A very full and rich sound, with a legacy inherited from Sonny Rhodes.

Georgie's vocals carry you back to your depth, and the band will bring you back to earth.

We have blues for your soul, and soul for your blues! The BluesKeepers has been professionally playing for about four years, and has evolved from an R&B blues band to a very contemporary sounding band.

Starting out in Philadelphia, PA, the Blueskeepers have toured the entire US eastern seaboard, and Europe.

Not only that, after we paid all our fines, they let us out of jail, and it seems pretty likely, that at least some of us may just become the fine, upstanding citizens that you'd let come on into your neighborhood!

More accessible to the general public!
Georgie Bonds grew up in Philadelphia where he used to be a blacksmith and horseman. He even was a member of the famous Philadelphia Black Cowboys. But after he met a few dyed-in-the wool musicians, Georgie decided to put the horses in the stable and make a career in the blues. And he was successful. He sung with the likes of Elvin Bishop and Sonny Rhodes and shared the concert stage with Jimmy Vaughn and Koko Taylor. For those who don’t listen to bluesmusic very much, the music of Georgie is slightly reliable to the music of Robert Cray. The 10 selfpenned (or written by Billy Baltera, a member of Georgie’s band) songs are all very soulfull, played with a lot of horns, and sung by Georgie himself with his fantastic, powerfull voice. Unlike most other bluesmusicians Georgie’s sings not to dwell on his misfortunes, but to celebrate his survival. So, his device is: we’ve always got some blues for your soul, and soul for your blues! Maybe because of that, the music of Georgie Bonds is more accessible to the general public.

Georgie Got So'l
This is a VERY good blues CD. Now, if you want polish, look elsewhere (Robbin Ford, e.g.) Now, if you want gut-wrenching vocals, then you gotta check in with this cat. No, he doesn't hit all of the "notes," but he gets straight to the point, which is what we need in these oh-yeah-Iraq-is-an-immediate-threat rhetorical world. Yes, Bonds--Georgie Bonds--tells the TRUTH, and he ain't afraid to tell it like it is. The title track is the highlight, and I also really like "Billy Diamond Down." In this Year of the Blues, it's worth a listen. In fact, BUY IT!
