Album Notes
Brooklyn, NY--The Bootleg Remedy officially released its self-titled debut CD in February, 2001, to wild acclaim in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The All Music Guide lauded the opus for finding "the crossroads where Louis Armstrong and Bill Monroe meet... Overall, a set of songs that fly by in just under 25 minutes but establish the Bootleg Remedy as one of the greatest Dixieland/old-timey revivalists of the early 21st century."

In addition to several original compositions by Gould, the Bootleg Remedy CD contains interpretations of the classic bluegrass song "Old Salty Dog Blues" and Bill Monroe's famous "Blue Moon of Kentucky." "I'm so glad they're here," raves Splendid e-Zine, "because these immortal cuts help make it astoundingly clear how good Gould's own compositions are. They basically match the covers for emotional depth... the Bootleg Remedy make it plain that old-time music (or long-forgotten genres) can always be resuscitated if one has the heart, the guts and the sheer joy to simply give it a go."

Digital City has praised the Bootleg Remedy for "the finest horn section in the city," while the New York Press proclaims simply that this acoustic septet are
"some of the best bluegrass revivalists in America today."

I can't listen to this CD without a HUGE smile on my face...
Within the first few notes of song 1 I am smiling and tapping my toes. The energy of the band and the craftsmanship of the songs makes it a real pleasure to listen to. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who likes music, no matter what style. It will make you tap your toes...

This album kicks ass!!
Great recording sound, talented musicians...I really love each song.

Time Out New York

From February 1-8, 2001 Issue
...The band plays a mix of jaunty Dixieland and energetic bluegrass--though its cover of Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky" has the requisite pathos. The CD feels so homey that you keep waiting for the telltale crackles and pops associated with the old 78s.

Might want to buy 2 CD''ll wear out the first one FAST!
This is the Lay's potato chip of CD's...once I start listening to it, I keep playing it, and playing it, and...well you get the idea! :) It's such a great CD...'nuff said!

Thatcher Graham, The Music Syndicate

Your album is awesome...
...I laughed out of sheer joy. It's rare that I get to hear an album of such invigorating and inspiring music, it just makes me feel good. I've aready shown it to many of my friends. You'll probably have a few more sales by Friday, it was a complete hit with them.

My toes are still tappin, my hands are still clappin and that's from only listening to the sample clips! If the rest of the cd is at all like what I just listened to, then I will be back for more. This cd gets 2 thumbs up! Go git it!
