Tom Gould Does it Again
Tom Gould is the lead singer, bass guitarist, song writer and producer of the New York band, Bossa Nova Beatniks, that has been reviewed several times in the past here at Rootstime, among others, with their albums "11-11-11", an EP that appeared on the market in the end 2011, or with the full CD "End Civil Twilight" that received a very positive review in April 2007. This musician recently sent us two CDs for which he, in one way or another, was involved.
The first disc is a six song EP that is called "The Pearls Of Oyster Bay" which contains four new Bossa Nova Beatniks' compositions in addition to two very nice cover songs, "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Still, Nash & Young and the soulful "Reach Out And Touch (somebody's Hand)" by Ashford & Simpson, a big hit for Diana Ross. The Oyster Bay School District is a school community where innovative education is given to young leaders-to-be. Their most famous resident was Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States.
For the recording of these songs, Gould called on young current pupils and former pupils of this school who were responsible for the vocals. For the song "We Are the Pearls of Oyster Bay," the whole school choir was called in to sing their new anthem.
