Album Notes
Bourbon & Shamrocks is a band founded on fun music and good times. Our motto is: “Ceoil agus Craic aneas!” If you don’t happen to be fluent in Gaelic, it means with this band you can count on “Music and Fun from the South!” Our music includes Traditional Irish Drinking Songs, Folk Music, Sea Shanties, with some Southern Rock, Old Time and Blue Grass thrown in for good measure.

Most of our members have been jamming together for the last 10 to 15 years. In 2009, we got the opportunity to take our music to the public, playing live at a small local pub. Since then, we have played live every week and developed a loyal following of fans that share our love and enthusiasm for the music we play.

We have performed at a variety of venues in Huntsville, and Birmingham Alabama, including, Finnegan's Pub, The Kaffee Klatsch, Humphrey’s Bar & Grill, St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2010 & 2011, The Veterans’ Day Parade 2010, International Festival of North Alabama 2010, Bandito Southside, The Sports Page, Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment, Rocket City Brewfest 2010 & 2011, Flying Monkey Arts -- Concerts on the Dock, The Ledges “Live Thursday Night”, Pine Tree Country Club’s “31st Annual St. Patrick’s Party”, as well as some community benefits including; The Still Serving Veterans’ “An Irish Christmas” Benefit, The United Cerebral Palsy Organization’s “An Irish Evening” and numerous private parties. We are also partnered with The Irish Society of North Alabama, helping to educate our community about Irish Culture and Irish History.

The Bourbon & Shamrocks' Musicians:

Colin Duckworth has dabbled with the bass guitar for some 20 years, but finding himself outclassed by two superior bass players at the infamous Wedjams, where B&S found the majority of its talent and a healthy sip of inspiration, turned to vocals and the washboard to contribute. His incredibly, amazingly, stupendously mediocre voice is perfect for Bourbon & Shamrocks' rowdy style. Preferred Whiskey: Jameson, Preferred Beer: Dark and thick

Mike Burrows is the newest member of B&S. He plays fiddle and sings lead on several tunes. Some of his favorite music comes from musicians like Old Crow Medicine Show, and genres like Folk, Old Time, Bluegrass, Gypsy style music, Celtic and Rock/Blues.

Stuart Dickson is one of the most versatile members of Bourbon & Shamrocks. He plays the guitar, mandolin, joe-tar, fiddle and whistle. His musical influences range from bands like The Grateful Dead, Donna the Buffalo, Old Crow Medicine Show, Bob Marley, and Widespread Panic. He has been playing since his teens and still enjoys the music.

Stan Douglas is a twenty year veteran of classic and southern rock and grunge garage bands. Until one night he took his first sip of homemade liquor and started playing Old Time, leading him back to the original Irish tunes on which so much Old time and Bluegrass is based today. Also, it is all Stan’s fault.

James Smith started playing bass after washing out of an audition for jazz pianist at age 17. Since then he has lowered the tone of a motley assortment of groups, slowly compensating for lack of talent with experience and tech, and forgetting how to play the piano. As half of the B&S Dual Bass Attack, he has plumbed new depths of thick stringed debauchery and done a lot of hollering.

Steven Baird plays percussion with a single snare, brushes and a tamborine on the floor with his foot. His unique setup gives Bourbon & Shamrocks a distinct rhythmic sound and drives all of their tunes. He has been playing for 20 years and some of his musical influnces stem from genres like Southern Rock, Alternative, Jam Band, Jazz, and Reggae.

Tyson Stinson, who plays the bass, bohdran and backup vocals. He is a life long musician who started playing as a child in The Huntsville Youth Band and continued playing music through High School Marching Band, Concert Band as well as Jazz Band. He has been playing bass guitar with other musicians ever since. Some of his influences include, The Grateful Dead, U2, Donna the Buffalo, Pink Floyd, as well as musical genres like, Old Time Music, Bluegrass, Southern Rock, Celtic and Folk. In his spare time outside the band, Tyson is a visual artist, photographer, and printmaker. He is a native of Huntsville who traces his family heritage back to his Irish roots.
