Album Notes
“The 2006 release of Six Strings marks the first full length solo CD from Canadian classical guitarist, Brad Mahon. Aside from adding in some tasteful reverb in the mastering process, all the sounds on Six Strings are as Mahon cut them live in a studio setting. An outstanding classical guitarist, Mahon is clearly in his element here, covering a wide ranging centuries old repertoire of guitar masters – some of the big names like Tarrega and Villa-Lobos but all still deserving rediscovery. As this excellent sounding CD intends, it’s good to know that there’s still devoted classical technicians like Brad Mahon on the scene reminding everyone about where the whole guitar world really began.”
20th Century Guitar Magazine (New York)

“A very accomplished performer.” CBC Radio (Canada)

“A delightful musical night and great spectacle for the audience.” Baiao Noticia (Portugal)

A past-winner in the Pacific Northwest Guitar Competition, Brad Mahon has appeared throughout Portugal, the United States, and across his native Canada, as an award-winning and acclaimed guitarist, teacher, adjudicator, clinician, and lecturer. He is Head of the Conservatory of Performing Arts at the University of Regina and maintains part-time roles with the Mount Royal University Conservatory (Calgary) and Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto). Additionally, Dr. Mahon tours and records with the Oberon Guitar Trio, East West Guitar Duo, as a collaborative artist, session player, and soloist, and has written for Music Matters, Soundboard, Fast Forward, and Guitar Connoisseur. Brad also has a wife, four kids, and no hobbies.
