October 27th marks the 50th Anniversary of the first airing of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", the Peanuts classic by Charles M. Schultz. To celebrate, Michael Sharfe and Brad Myers are releasing a digital download of "Great Pumpkin Waltz", Vince Guaraldi's beautiful theme song from the show.

This under recorded gem from Guaraldi's catalog is equal parts haunting and hopeful, pensive yet playful. The arrangement features the Michael and Brad sharing melodic duties and taking turns improvising over the sonic landscape that owes as much to classical harmony as it does to jazz. Master percussionist Marc Wolfley rounds out the ensemble with tasteful textures that tickle your ears and transforms Guaraldi's masterpiece from a traditional waltz feel into a bubbly Latin 6/8 soundscape. Imagine Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and Schroeder walking through the pumpkin patch at night looking for The Great Pumpkin and marveling at the mysterious sounds of nature that accompany their journey through the dark.

This track is just a taste of the beauty and diversity that is all over their upcoming release, "Sanguinarias/Hopefulsongs", due out in January 2017.
