ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Brainerds premier release on Crustacean records.

Dieterich - Vocals, Bass
Kasperbauer - Guitar
Porwall - Guitar
Kinzler - Drums

The original lineup of brainerd featuring a lineup of Madison Allstars. "No Eye" was recorded in what is now the basement of the High Noon Saloon. Previously the Buy & Sell shop studios. You can almost hear the hot tub bubbling in the background as the after bar party raged on for months, nay, years on end. This is where it all began.

Review

Man, the pulverizing metal-core of "I Knew" has a growling goodness about it. And "Alcohol & Booze" careens along the greasy line between the sumptuously sleazy and seriously sick with beer-soaked aplomb. Plus, any band that tips its hat to power-chord-friendly country outlaw David Allan Coe (see the honky-tonky anthem "Red Chain") deserves a sweaty slap on the back and a couple pitchers of free beer. But the killer cut on Brainerd's debut CD-the one that seals their identity as unregenerate hard guys-is "Chocolate Cake," a salacious piece of trash-rock that takes the heaviest of guitar riffs and slams it straight to the heart of the matter. Compared to this track, much of the Queens of the Stone Age's recent output sounds wimpy. If the right folks hear, these local boys will get signed. Absolutely no doubt about that. It's that vicious. The downright buoyant "White Bitch"-think Kiss at their comic book goofiest - should turn some heads as well. Ferocious stuff. - Isthmus Magazine
