ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD was put out two showcase two covers. The first is a medley of Temptation eyes (by The Grass Roots) into 25 or 6 to 4 (by Chicago). It is a song that Topaz played live and Mark did all the horn parts on Guitar synth live. Fans asked for a recording of this, The second is Getting To The Point by ELO. It is a song that Mark loved and when he was learning how to use his newly acquired AW4416, he recorded this to try it out (just for fun). Everyone who heard it, loved it and asked that it be released. This was before CD Baby released singles, so there had to be a full CD. Mark got all the demos of songs that were to "pretty" or "light" to go on a proper Ruby Topaz CD and put them together to release these covers. One of those songs (Far, Far away), about becoming a father, has Mark's son (who was very young at the time) at the end in a moment that should touch every parents heart. There is also a rare instrumental that Mark recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder. It is a drum machine, Mark on bass and lead guitar and it's called "Drive Me Anywhere, Fast!" That pretty much describesit!

Great Topaz!!
This CD is essential for the Ruby Topaz fan. The CD is billed as "The lighter side of Ruby Topaz" Yes it is true that some of the tunes on here can be considered "softer or lighter", but in true Ruby Topaz fashion - the tunes are extremely catchy! The liner notes are great with a track by track history of what was going on in Mark's life at the time and explanation of the songs. For me the stand out track is one that Mark states that he didn't think people w/o kids would get. (Far, Far Away) I do have a son myself so I guess I get it. :-) The last thing I want to mention is the amazing cover of The Grass Roots "Temptation Eyes" and Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" He combines the songs masterfully! It sounds as if they were always meant to be blended and recorded as one. To sum it all up, get this CD! I also Recommend Mark Bram / Ruby Topaz Again. Killer stuff there, too. Thanks for reading!
