ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
We are so excited about this CD and what 2016 looks to bring! We had the honor of working with Grammy award winner, Clay Hess, who recorded and produced this project out of Hayes Studio and Productions in Batavia, OH. We even feature Clay playing guitar on Lonesome Reuben and boy does he deliver! This CD brings 5 originals where 4 were written and arranged by Larry, while the title track "Most Welcome" was written by our good friend, Steve Jackson. Most will be surprised to find out that this was Steve's first attempt at writing a song. The song came about from a conversation with Steve suggesting to Larry to write a song with Tristen, but he beat Larry to the punch. Tristen makes his recording debut singing “Most Welcome” and does a great job switching from singing the lead through the verses to tenor on the chorus. "She Is The Best" is an original that laid in the coffers for over 30 years. Larry wrote this song at the ripe age of 14! Anyone who has lost their mother will appreciate and identify with this touching song about the love for a mom. Clay says that "Judgment Day" is the gem of the CD". This was also written by Larry and it features dark, haunting instrumentation coupled with a story that needs to be heard and followed. If you have ever seen these boys live, you know they are multi-talented and can switch instruments without missing a beat. "All I Have To Do Is Dream" is one of the tracks with a great arrangement to feature the boy's on something other than their normal instrument. Jesse does some great banjo work while Tristen takes the band by the horns and plays some really tasteful bass. Derek usually plays mandolin on this song, but we featured Clay on mandolin and just like with the guitar, he does an amazing job. You get to hear Derek’s banjo prowess with a killer kickoff on "Ramblin' Boy Blues"! You will hear Mike step out of the shadows and do a cool rendition of "Mountain" Song” with spot on harmonies. Gil Benson does an outstanding job on the fiddle and will bring chills to you on "Judgment Day" while special guest Ray Cossin laid some nice bow to the snappy original, "Come Back Little Darlin'.
If you could have been a fly on the wall or followed this journey on Facebook, you would have seen how much fun they were having making this project. When you leave a member of the band, especially your son, at a gas station and continue to drive for miles without noticing that he was not in the car, you can imagine how much fun they were having. Thank goodness for cell phones! We sure hope you enjoy this CD as much as we enjoyed making it!
