ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A selection of Irish/celtic folksongs and instrumentals, some original.
Originally planned as an album to be made available to international audiences, the choice of tracks was led largely by the response of audiences during concerts of Brendan Hayes and Kim Sjøgren throughout Scandanavia, Denmark in particular. The similarity and familiarity of Irish folk music, both celtic songs and instrumentals, to the Scandanavian people is well known. Indeed, for example, many Danes understand that the melody for the Irish song, Galway Bay, was originally penned in Denmark.

The album website, www.avisittoireland.com, explains such interesting details and lots more, providing much food for thought and background information on the tracks, including the lyrics to all the songs.

The physical CD is available in selected record stores in Ireland and for purchase at the show Trad on the Prom in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, Galway, where I perform during the summer of 2014. For performance details, visit www.tradontheprom.com .

If listeners would prefer a physical CD, email brendan@avisittoireland.com and we can organise postage/delivery/payment.
