ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This Father’s Day, Brenna Lynn wrote an acoustic, heartfelt, thankful song for her dad, because fathers are the only ones who can teach the life lessons they teach to their children, especially their daughters. “My Dad’s Song” is real, honest, soft, and ethereal sounding. It has a sense of nostalgia that only fathers and daughters can fully recognize.

“When I was a little girl, my dad was 7,000 feet tall and the strongest man on the planet,” Brenna laughs. “And when he got home from work, my siblings and I would run up to him, begging him to lift us up so we could touch the ceiling. It was so exciting to reach for the ceiling with his help. He would laugh and smile and treat us like super-heroes.”

“When I woke up one night, while in college, I couldn’t sleep. So, I did what I often do…I listed out all the things I’m thankful for. I thanked God that I have been raised by the people I’ve been raised by, who always want to lift me as high as they possibly can. My parents are incredible and have never let me feel like anything less than a super-hero.”

“I rolled over in bed and grabbed my notebook. And I wrote these words down: I used to ask my Daddy if he could lift me up, so I could reach up and touch the ceiling. And now I realize that my Dad has been lifting me up my whole life so that I could reach for the ceiling every day.” Brenna explains that this late-night chicken scratch blossomed into her song, “My Dad’s Song.”

Brenna’s new single is perfect for father daughter dances. It would be an excellent song for fathers and daughters to dance to at weddings, as often those types of songs are sung by men, rather than by women, as told from the daughter’s point of view. The song is sweet and gentle and thankful.

This single is also excellent for sharing with the men you love most on Father’s Day. Both men and women will be able to hear their dads in “My Dad’s Song,” and feel love and gratitude for the men that taught them how to live, love, and play.
