by Brian Chris Rogers

There is a meditative quality to the album but the pocket always stays with the dance floor, and with arrangements raw and refined, it's a style many musicians search for but few find a way to make it sound as fresh as it does here.

Album Notes
Following in the footsteps of his former bands Izabella and The Nibblers is not easy, but Brian Chris Rogers is thrilled to be taking the wheel as a solo artist, having only been a passenger on a band bus. Brian’s experience makes this a role that suits him.

From Sunday mornings at church to Saturday nights at festivals, from Las Tortugas to Bobolink to the High Sierra Music Festival, Brian has taken hundreds of crowds as deep into the spirit of music as they can go. Brian has performed with such great players as Bill Kreutzmann with Grateful Dead, Michael Kang with String Cheese Incident, multiple members of Animal Liberation Orchestra “ALO”, and many others.

Lead singer of longtime Sacramento favorites Izabella, The Nibblers, bassist for Random Abiladeeze, drummer for The Toyes and hometown gem The Coalition, Brian also has mad jazz skills and won the best jazz group SAMMIE four years running as a member of The Four Guys From Reno. Brian’s multiple SAMMIES wins ended up putting him in the SAMMIES Hall of Fame, and Brian’s recent lead singing for The Nibblers and bass playing for Random Abiladeeze helped put them both in the Hall of Fame as well.

Brian’s musical chops don’t stop at vocals. He is an ace bass player, a powerful drummer, and a percussive guitarist, and all of these skills are showcased on his upcoming new release, “Single”. The title speaks to the pursuit of love while single, and musically it’s a hat tip to Brian’s new solo career. The transition is bittersweet. “I am grateful for a summer spent with the Nibbs… got to play some killer shows. I will miss rehearsing and singing with them every week”, says Brian. The nostalgia, however, is eclipsed with excitement...

Brian looks forward to the spring release of his EP and passing on a copy to family member Larry Graham, bassist for Sly and The Family Stone. “I hope to learn something from the inventor of slap bass, since my style is heavily rooted in tapping and slapping”. Brian deftly switches between electric bass and acoustic guitar to accompany his vocals as he bares all at his monthly singer/songwriter showcases held at Sacramento’s Naked Lounge.

Brian created his own genre, “Alien Soul”, in which he pushes the limits and balances the best traits in any artist with vocals and style hybrids reminiscent of Ben Harper, Amos Lee, Dave Matthews, and Victor Wooten. Friend and ZuhG band member JR Halliday quotes: “Whether Brian is singing, drumming, playing bass, guitar or a beer bottle, he always brings it.”

Musical love
Brian Rogers is music incarnate. Let's just get that out if the way. He was born with a beat in one hand and a firm grasp on rhythm in the other. His latest album is probably his most refined offering to date. "Single" is no doubt a fun romp through a lusty musical landscape but what strikes me most is that it shows how much Brian has matured in his musical vision. I feel so fortunate to have watched Brian's evolution over the last decade and can only say that I feel blessed to have taken this ride and am excited to see what the future brings!

Outstanding, diverse songs!!
This album has me going deeper every time I listen. It has rich layers of lyrics, melodies, music, subtleties, and production. The rap lyrics are complex, with stanzas of seriousness, hope, great stories and on. Candy Lining, the first on the album, has an upbeat reggae beat and a great Youtube video to illustrate its lyrics and lightheartedness- check it out! Be sure to visit for a satisfying read of all the lyrics- you will come away wanting more!!

Evocative and soulful
This is my favorite CD to listen to after a long day at work. Relax, unwind, maybe shake a tailfeather.
