Album Notes
"Brian Deer cuts a striking figure at the table of Uncle Tupelo's Midwestern descendants, like a bright burst of melody and pluck in a field of flannel forlornness. I wish him great celebrity and influence." -Robbie Fulks

"If songs could make friends, Brian Deer would have a million." Jon Worley -A&A

"Brian Deer's new CD is a storm cloud salted with realities from his life and with the power of musical collaboration." NUVO

"Deer has captured himself in the midst of his own emotional rainstorm." Miles of Music

"It's not "pop" in a lowest common denominator sense, but sweet and sophisticated pop the way the Beatles played in 1965" David Lindquist - Indianapolis Star

Brian Deer Black Cloud Talk

As children riding in a car or lovers lying on the beach, we've all looked up into the blue and tried to see images in those puffy white cotton balls we call clouds. Whether we visualize a lion's face or a slice of cheesecake, what we see and describe to others is rooted in who we are. Our perspectives are shaped by our experiences, emotions and current circumstances. And when elements of our lives become overcast, happy clouds turn dark and grey. Sometimes, they even speak to us. We start hearing the black clouds talk.
On his first solo release entitled Black Cloud Talk, Brian Deer writes songs that come out of a place where negative thoughts and things can surround. But they can also lift and disappear as we pick up the pieces of our life. For Deer, these songs are a collection of scenes and moments that capture those emotions, both the 'dark night of the soul' and the hopeful expectation of brighter days to come.

Perfect Production and compelling vocals
From the upbeat tracks like Daydreamer and Sad Song, to the meloncholy I'm Not Built That Way, Brian's well written and expertly performed roots rock pop songs will keep Black Cloud Talk high in your playlist. Black Cloud Talk's nearly perfect production will draw you in and Brian's compelling stories about life and love will keep you.
After a listen, I'm singing these tunes for days. Can't wait for the follow up.

A true rock album with a splash of creative originality
Brian Deer's debut solo album "Black Cloud Talk" is a great mix of catchy and introspective songs. Like any good rock album, this one demonstrates Deer's ability to write lyrics that tell a story and put it to melodies that you can't get out of your head for weeks. "BCT" shows that Deer can write a true rock album with a splash of creative originality that makes his style his own. An impressive accomplishment his first time out. If you like to have your finger on the pulse of independent music, check this one because it shows that real rock music is alive and well.

From the first note I was hooked on Brian Deer's Black Cloud Talk. It's a CD that'll make you want to dance, sing, cry, and sing some more. Brian's incredible talents as a solo artist and amazing voice are clear in this new work. I can't get enough of it! You had me at "all."
