Album Notes
The second installment in Brian Friedland's Household Items series dramatically amps up his concept of using found texts for musical inspiration with a 23 piece orchestra. This collection of songs comically utilizes commercial products, Friedland's childhood poetry, and bizarre lease documents, with vibrant arrangements for a world class ensemble of strings, brass, piano, bass, drums, and orchestral percussion fronted by acclaimed and amazingly versatile vocalist Laura Grill. It was made possible through the funding of 197 Kickstarter backers and features an accompanying YouTube video for each song on the album.

Since composing music from warnings on a can Spot Shot cleaner, Friedland has produced 23 songs and multimedia videos using an eclectic set of genres to assign musical identities to colorful texts. Examples include the description on a box of SleepyTime Herb Tea sung as a soothing lullaby, grooming instructions from my beard trimmer belted like a Gospel anthem, and a poem written when I was 8 years old about a lonely bull combining music that could be from a scary movie, cartoon, and jungle-based reality show.
