ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Brian Groder– This composer/trumpeter’s music is not limited to a single tradition; he draws on an entire rich musical history and styles, creating music that freely combines composition and improvisation. His unique approach was the subject of a 2010 Downbeat profile. His CD with the renowned pianist Burton Green: "Groder and Greene", was lauded as “Best Release of 2009” by All About Jazz. "Torque", with the legendary Sam Rivers, was named by Downbeat as one of the Best Jazz CDs of 2007. "FluiDensity", is a new duet project of spontaneous improvisations centered off modern classical musical motifs with the acclaimed Italian pianist Tonino Miano. His recorded trio projects with Michael Bisio and Jay Rosen highlight organically composed material based upon harmonic, rhythmic and melodic themes that have been developed in their performances and rehearsals. The CDs "Reflexology" and now "R Train on the D Line" showcase the trio expanding this approach.
