Album Notes
Through his musical career, O'Brien has explored many different genres of music, all of which have served him well in creating his own sound.

His sound comes down to the amalgamation of three specific styles. Much like ingredients, they blend to create what is ultimately his own unique recipe for song.
The most prominent of these ingredients is his darker take on North American Folk.
He works with gritty and abrasive vocal tones that certainly add a timelessness to his music.
Secondly, O'Brien will use warmer tones in his voice. His ornamentation is inherent to that of classic R&B. It is here where he gently smoothens the edges of his folk sound, His grit immediately becomes more palatable.
Finally, the most important of his ingredients are his words. His prose are without a doubt what sets him apart. What he has studied most in his 20 years of writing music is lyricism and poetry. Brian discovers well upon well of inspiration among the Great Irish writers and storytellers.
