ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
An avid violinist in Montreal's world music scene, Briga brings eastern European folk violin to the forefront and into a realm of New World Influences. Briga’s violin and vocals transports us to a colorful, energetic, gripping and sensual world all the while encouraging excellent musicianship and improvisation. Briga brings us through divers musical landscapes such as world/urban/funk/jazz/groove, and songwriting/narrative, and always remaining true to its eastern European roots. DIASPORA is Briga's debut album, featuring two CDS, shares with us Briga’s wild violin captured on CD1: purely instrumental arrangements of eastern European and Balkan repertoire arranged with a groove edge, and Briga's songwriting and vocals on CD2: the sound of sensitive vocals and cinematic arrangements mixing diverse musical influences found in that Montreal sound.
