Album Notes
"wait for your spring" is a captivating piece of work from a musician starting to make her mark.

From alt-pop anthems and intimate acoustic tracks, to dance mixes and driving ballads, Kelly Brightwell's songwriting is unique and compelling. She conjures up concealed connections, finds the flowering in first heartbreak, gleans the grace bestowed by gravity, and harnesses the turbo force of girlhood dreams. Her literate, poetic lyrics and clear voice shine through on every track. Bare bones arrangements are interspersed with songs that use live percussion looping and digital programming.

Kelly won Honorable Mention in the 2004 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival with her songs Knee Deep and Daffodils, and the tune Rockets was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered. Songs from “wait for your spring” have been played on Internet radio station radioioAcoustic, Midwest radio stations KFAI, KUMD, WORT, WRNC and WOJB, as well as on other acoustic music radio programs around the US and overseas.

"Deeper than your standard java-fueled folk!"

Style of "Clear Blue" should be explored; better than Telepopmusik!
The remix stuff is entrancing, and it's fun to hear bits of Daffodils in Clear Blue. Knee Deep is my favorite after Clear Blue because of its variation and freshness. The lyricism is very accessible and compelling. Keep it up! C'mon up to Duluth sometime.

a pleasure to listen to, and gets better each time you come back to it
This album is a pleasure to listen to, and gets better each time you come back to it, sliding past the familiarity of the tunes and slipping deeper into the meanings. Brightwell is blessed with a naturally melodic vocal instrumentality, and JJ's backup guitar work complements it well. The twangy blues slide guitar on one of the songs brings an internal smile of surprise, and a bigger surprise is the final track, where hauntingly echoing refrains of Kelly's voice are perfectly blended with futuristic techno-dance thumping rhythm. A very nice album.

Entire Album
Kelly speaks directly to the soul-through her melodic voice and touching lyrics. It's getting a lot of play time with her fans in Milwaukee. We miss ya Kelly! But keep your amazing work coming.

a CD that won't leave your player...
wow! what a great debut. this album has wonderful variety, and there's absolutely no "duds" (songs you skip over). mostly acoustic, yet highly engaging and totally accessible. great songwriting and vocals. mostly, it's just so -listenable-... this isn't one of those CDs you play a few times, never to return to it as it languishes on your shelf. quite the contrary, i never tire of hearing it!

Great just doesn't cut it
Wow. I've met Kelly Brightwell. She's not a big person. So what I can't figure out is how can so much talent live in such a little body? Every song on this disc is amazing. The writing, the voice, both just knock me out. It's not just's smart and beautiful

She has it ...
Sometimes you just know when an artist has it, and I felt it with Kelly and that she was coming from a deep place.
