Album Notes
Brill is happy to announce the release of their debut album Fish Out Of Water. Brill is an indie-alt-acoustic duet; the current collaboration between singer/songwriters Brooke Trout and Dave Strauss.

“O Song” was the album's first single, among a few of the album’s tracks that features ukulele. Brooke got uke lessons on the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage from Grammy award winning Daniel Ho during the annual Ukule-Along at
The LA Music Center. Brill released "O Song" as their first single along with an official music video on Youtube. The song was featured on several programs including JVonD Radio in Boulder, CO, MuseBoat Radio in Las Vegas, NV, The Soupy Gato Show in The Netherlands with syndication in the UK and The Daily Dose on The Insomnia RadioNetwork.

Dave Strauss has released nine albums on his own label Flat Cat Records. He was a founding member of the experimental band X-CEPTIONS as well as a member of the critically acclaimed Jeannie Willets Band that shared a stage with the likes of Suzanne Vega and Shawn Colvin. He was also the former host of Flat Cat Radio where Brooke was a monthly co-host.

Dave previously performed and recorded with Brooke Trout and The Anchormen on the album Networth. The title track was awarded “Most Original In Alternative Rock” on and the album received acclaim from All Access Magazine, Women’s Radio and Iggy Pop producer Chas Ferry.

Brooke Trout has released three albums to date which have made playlists in major markets across the country.
She has performed at several historic venues including The Roxy Theatre, The Viper Room and House of Blues. Her last music project Chasing Windmills with the band The Red Herring made the WPNR, WXIN and The Deli Magazine charts.

Brill has performed live in support of nonprofits including Foodshare and the San Fernando Valley Arts Council since the group’s formation in Spring of 2013.

"The music of the title track so wonderfully contrasts with the message much like some George Harrison solo songs. The exceptional addition of xylophone makes things fun. 'My Own Skin' is refreshingly honest in terms of attitude without being in your face. Need something that stands apart from the standard fare? Check out Brill’s Fish Out of Water...You just might discover their music has a 'Healing' effect on you." -Will Phoenix,

"I've been playing Fish Out Of Water on repeat! As a whole this is a very polished album with a nice balance and chemistry between the two singers. Really sounds crisp, great vocals and smooth sounding guitar. I played this on my Bose system and it sounds like the band is in the room. I especially love O Song and Shine. "-Kathy

"The sweet, earnest lyrics, simple melodies and unadorned recording style all work well for some of the songs, like 'Shine.' Other standouts for me are 'O Song' and 'Fish Out of Water.' Your vocal harmonies on 'O Song' are very appealing. Something honest, human and true definitely shines through." -Mark

"There wasn't one song on the whole album I didn't like. Reminding me a bit of Peter, Paul and Mary, Boz Scaggs' 'Harbor Lights,' Chad and Jeremy and a little of the Cowsills." -Kathy
