Album Notes
A theatrical feast for the heart and mind in the tradition of Savatage and Trans Siberian Orchestra, the long awaited rock opera by Brockmann/Andrade, “Airs - A Rock Opera" tells her story with simplicity and elegance: on a small circular island in the Atlantic, Owen Doane has rolled through a stop sign and driven a car carrying two tourists – a mother and her 9 year old daughter - from the road to strike a stone wall. The accident caused the girl to suffer injuries that paralyzed her from the waist down, confining her life to a chair and thereby forcing Owen's father to suffer the collapse of his company that had been built upon the Doane family heritage of pulling stone from fields before harvest and and building walls after milling grain since they had first settled Manisses Island in 1664. A powerful, vintage '70s rock score by Steve Brockmann conveys all of the loss, disillusionment, rekindled hope, reconciliation and ultimate redemption that is Owen's journey and is rich with soaring cinematic passages! An amazing roster of musicians and vocalists are on hand to help tell the story such as Gordon Tittsworth “Images of Eden”, Dave Meros & Alan Morse “Spock's Beard”........

Progressive Rock & Progressive Metal - E-Zine

Airs project takes its origin from the idea of creating something exciting...
We started 2012 with a collection of amazing new bands and wonderful new musical projects, "Airs - A Rock Opera" is one of these important musical pojects released from the beginning of 2012 and, naturally, will be considered as one of the best albuns from this year. Airs Project is led by two musicians monsters already known of the progressive rock community, Steve Brockmann is the main magician of all arranegements, the holder of the guitar and keyboards also the main producer of this project, he is a multi- instrumentalist who has played an active role in Northern Germany’s scenery, since the early 1980s, together with George Andrade, which, is the responsible by the lyrics, where both are a perfect combination, between the music and the lyrics, and become musically something that is absolutely gorgeous, something like a majestic project, where all musical elements work to a vibrant and emotional journey to the realm of Progressive Rock world. Airs project takes its origin from the idea of creating something exciting and really original in the actual musical scene. The main musicians on this project, had a hard research, creating a special combination of musical elements rarely found in existing projects, bringing together complexity of multiple instrumental and vocals lines, specially combined, which involves us around a trip into many musical genres, blending unlimited orchestral possibilities, combining musical styles such as Symphonic Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, Melodic Metal, Hard Rock, Classic Rock and Progressive Metal, into a modern experimentation, using diverse ways of amazing arrangements. One of the main points in this production was the correct choice of musicians featuring on this project, an amazing cast of participants including prominent musicians, in both the instrumental, also as the diversified vocals, very well interpreted by a set of singers, where each has a defined interpretation within the musical ensemble. This musical project is characterized by an elaborate harmonic texture, with diverse rhythmic evolutions, clear melodic lines and a liking for sudden instrumental alterations around the arrangements, which are many times symphonic and melodic, that rapidly changing to a more aggressive line of Heavy Metal and Prog Metal, which is remarkable by powerful drums, sometimes using aggressive vocals, led by amazing guitars solos creating an overwhelming musical dimension. Each member on the band and the cast, contributed with their diverse musical influences and styles adding original ideas to elements derived from Heavy Metal, Progressive Rock, Classical Rock, Melodic Hard Rock and some touchs of Progressive Metal. If you admire an energetic and creative music that catches your attention, surely "AIRS - A Rock Opera" is your best choice, where really can be considered as an attractive album for any Progressive Rock enthusiast. I have to say, congratulations guys, to this amazing album with an impecable production. Musically the sound on this album leans heavily on the influences of rock from seventies/eighties, but with some hints of Rock from nineties, listen carefully and you will find musical smells from "Black Sabbath", "Pink Floyd", "Yes", "Uriah Heep", "Saga", "Styx", "Queensryche", "Iron Maiden" and so on. "Airs - A Rock Opera" is an amazing album for any fan of Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, Melodic Metal, Heavy Metal, Prog Metal or for any fans of catchy music in general. Brilliant and fantastic, highly recommendable...

If you are one of those people who like Camel, Eloy, Savatage or Pink Floyd, thi
Saying "awesome" was my first reaction after first listening, it sounds like a mixture of legendary Eloy, Camel and Savatage, plus classic Rock and some pieces of our beloved Heavy Metal at first listening. But I feel it will be even more interesting after more listening. We are still in the beginning of 2012, but AIRS-A ROCK OPERA is going to be one my favourites this year.

The album is as long as it can be,it includes 18 tracks and honestly it was hard for me to pick one as my number one, as there are several masterpieces that shine so bright or rock so heavy. From classic rock to heavy metal and even a piece in the neo-classical style, a widespread view of good sounding music, it shows the great talent of the composer, Steve Brockmann in writing music. Another thing that I should mention here, is the great flair and creativity of George Andrade in writing the lyrics, I’m really impressed and believe me or not, I could see all the stories in my eyes.

It’s like reading a book or watching a drama which starts in a dock, so make sure that you are ready for a trip to a fantastic symbolic world, just let that kite go and fly, then you’ll find yourself floating in the ‘AIRS’, it feels light like a feather, you may even feel sad, not painful but a joyful sadness, I want to call this ETERNITY and that’s truth. Piano, Keyboard and Guitar joined forces to play such ideal songs like “Fateful Days”, “Kite” , and “Floating” which sounds like a mixture of Pink Floyd and Camel to me and also I want to mention some Heavy songs like “Heritage”, “Flight II” and “Grounded II” in this album which remind me of pure German Heavy Rock Metal. Several singers appeared in this album and I can tell you that they are all great and it seems everybody and everything in this album are in right place, and that’s one of the reasons that I called this album awesome.

Maybe one of my favourite moments in this album is when Harpsichord enters into the instrumental song “History” and play with an overdriven guitar. The joining of a keyboard in the background mission is completed to enjoy the song, but I really wish it was a little longer. “History” is a great intro for the next song, “Heritage” which brings with it the Rock and Rolling of distorted guitars, a bass guitar that play wonderful rhythms and riffs and also a piano which appears with a great riff, the sound of which invokes the feeling of dancing in a dream.

The artwork of this album is the best choice and I cannot imagine something better than this, it really fits those dream maker masterpieces and I seriously suggest you get a hard copy of this album, if you don’t want to miss the very impressive stories and that fantastic artwork. As my final word, if you are always looking for good music or if you are one of those people who like Camel, Eloy, Savatage or Pink Floyd, this album is for you, but if you are looking for growling stuff, luckily or unfortunately this is not yours.

Steve is a melody machine and the lyrics really draw you in.
The guys have done a fantastic job with AIRS. Everything about it says “class” and I really mean that. It’s a wonderful piece of art. It’s really, really good!
Steve is a melody machine and the lyrics really draw you in.
AIRS is like a clinic on how to properly execute melodic sensibilities in rock music without becoming bubble gum. It's just quality song craft.
The quality of the songwriting, the musicianship, the story telling, and just the love and enthusiasm that was poured into this entire thing really shines through in the finished product.
