Album Notes
Like the devil's temptation in one ear and an angel's whisper in the other, Brooke "BK" Archilla unites the dark grittiness of hip-hop with the sultry side of neo-soul to create a harmonious blend to call her own. All while keeping the tradition of powerful female lyricists of the past like Lauryn Hill and Queen Latifah, BK adds her powerful RnB vocals to her already fiery lyrical flow, creating a piece of work that hits a wide range of emotions and pleases the ear. BK's song writing creates a spectrum of unique tracks, each with their own powerful story and distinct rhythm. Each representing a strength and empowerment that digs up a soft spot in an otherwise male dominant genre. "Let My Music Speak" which dropped January 27, 2012, is the product of BK's consistency in posting weekly videos on her youtube channel known as One Minute Spit. Countless Spits have been recorded all holding valuable insight into who BK is both as an individual, as well as recording artist. As the old saying goes "the squeaky wheel gets the grease", her Youtube Channel caught the ear of Phivestarr Productions of Atlanta, who has worked with other major recording artists such as Nappy Roots, Bubba Sparxxx and Colt Ford. Just recently she released her first single and video featuring southern boys, Nappy Roots known as "Hardest Part". Rarely do we see artists surface, that choose to embrace the classy entrancing side of soul, interwoven with the complex misinterpreted world of hip/hop.
