Album Notes
Heralding from Adelaide in Australia, this sibling duo are just at home living in a suitcase, having lived and worked and recorded all around the country and the world. Coming from a musical family; of Estonian, French and English heritage, Dante and Xavia Nou started playing and recording as children. Only in 2005 did the BrotherSister project officially begin. Making a studio of any room with some peace and quiet, the two compile songs by sending files to each other across oceans and cities, layering melodic acoustic instruments over electronic beats and sounds creating an evocative mix of whimsical and sometimes bleak tale-like songs. Having been received warmly for shows in the USA and AUS, the siblings have released their anticipated second album- ’The Wunder Tales’ in February 2008 to a receptive home crowd. (”wunder” meaning a place where a collection of rarities and curiosities are exhibited). Following in the self produced footsteps of their debut self titled EP,’The Wunder Tales’ has remained an international effort with mastering completed in Nashville by Marc Chevalier and artwork in NYC by Emmy award winning design firm- SHILO (www.shilo.tv) who are currently working on the bands second music video, ‘Still Run’, set for release May 2009.

“[sounds like] a chamber orchestra playing electronic, classical, andd folk music remixed by prefuse 73.” VENUS zine (USA) winter 2006.

“soaringly orchestral and glitch electronic...It’s everything you love from the vocals of Tori Amos and Win Butler, the rhythm section of Thom Yorke’s "Erasure" and the widescreen introspection of Bat For Lashes.” review by spoz. (www.spoz.blogspot.com) February 08

“BrotherSister show much diversity...and experiment more than most big named acts of similar ilk” Rip It Up (AUS), February 08

Peters at CD Baby

With melodic, dramatic and sometimes jawdropping songs that mix of electronic music with guitars, BrotherSister (yes, they really are siblings) have made a tremendous album that keeps you wondering what sounds you'll hear next. Sharing lead vocals, the songs vary from sounding sometimes like Imogen Heap to sometimes like Thom Yorke. And although the songs are primarily electronically driven, there are plenty of organic sounds as well, such as the piano and vocals of "Autumn Leaves", the strings and drum set on "Given Truths," one of the standout tracks. Another standout is the piano-driven "Drop" which sounds a bit like Bjork, in a good non-derivative way. This is really clever, exciting electro-pop and deserves to be heard.
