Album Notes
“Songs of My Father” is a smooth jazz/ funk flavored instrumental cd consisting of 12 tracks.
The Title is a play on words symbolizing my feelings about my natural father and my Heavenly Father.
The tracks are written in an upbeat cool, and uplifting style, that are sound similar to the music of Jeff Lorber, Alex Bugnon, or George Duke. The CD was written as a tribute to my Dad who is an old school Jazz Fanatic. His great love for Jazz was passed on to me when I was a small child. The first cut “Almighty” describes the nature of Almighty God as I see him described in Jazz and Funk. Track 2, “It’s gon’ be Alright” is a fun, cool, and funky upbeat song that let’s you know that everything is going to be alright no matter what you may be currently going through. The Song”Even in the Storm” was written to describe what it feels like to ride through a hurricane. There are all types of “hurricanes” in life and the message in this song is that even in the storm, God is with us. Another meaningful track is the soft ballad type song “Auntie Rose” written for, and about my dear, sweet Aunt Rose who recently passed away. I wrote this song in tribute to her sweet spirit. “Deep Still Waters” is written to my Wife and also describes the nature of my Heavenly Father. It is an emotional thought-provoking moving song that ends with a bit of soul and funk. Enjoy. Peace Greg Brown
