Album Notes
"His joy is contagious. He nearly overpowers with emotion, leaving one breathless. When he improvises it’s as if creating a ceremonial chant from ancient fragments. His voice is his horn, and he can swing like Goodman, spin and spiral like Parker, or levitate like Coltrane."... Andrea Canter - JazzInk

Bruce Henry Live and Natural
Special Guests: Gregoire Maret and Irv Williams

Vocalist Bruce Henry has been called a Jazz Messenger by more than one music critic. The messenger is back! Bruce Henry’s latest release once again combines the qualities that earned him that title. Bruce Henry Live and Natural is a jazz project that combines mostly live performances with unreleased tracks that bring their own energy and all express Henry as he is. Evocative. Eclectic. Creative. Principled. He is joined by musicians who offer consummate skills as individuals and together they are like a herd of thoroughbreds…and he lets them RUN. The result is 11 tracks, each of which is a window into Henry’s soul; each of which expresses his connection to important elements of human existence…Henry style. Henry believes that jazz is the most eclectic musical genre. Live and Natural starts with music originally from a variety of genres and puts them through the Henry filter. What comes out is jazz; jazz that is reinforced in its eclecticism by the inclusion of harmonica interludes on eight of the tracks. Much like the violin performances on his previous release, Connections, the addition of the harmonica raises the bar.

Bruce A. Henry is a vocalist, performer and educator extraordinaire. Henry's eclectic vocal style has been influenced by legends such as John Coltrane, Leon Thomas, Gil Scott Heron, Al Jarreau, Nina Simone and Marvin Gaye.

Bruce possesses a three-octave range, a pure voice with versatility few can match. Bruce's music has taken him to five continents and he has recorded for Disney, HBO and numerous national ad campaigns. In addition he has performed with and opened for the likes of Doc Severinson, Roberta Flack, Chris Botti, Ramsey Lewis, Stephane Grapelli, Jimmy Jam and The Sounds of Blackness.
