ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Christmas Street is a fresh batch of holiday tunes - available here for the very first time. Enjoy!

Bruce Hughes grew up in Austin, Texas, the musical mecca of psychedelic garage bands, cosmic cowboys, chitlin circuit blues and punk rock. Singing and playing guitar since elementary school, he picked up the bass in 6th grade and never let it go.

A formative member of Austin bands Poi Dog Pondering, Ugly Americans, and The Scabs, Bruce is one of the town’s most visible and versatile musicians. You can catch him playing regularly around town and around the country with The Resentments, Bob Schneider, Johnny Nicholas, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Poi Dog Pondering, and Sly Curtis. Bruce was voted Bass Player of the Year in both the 2008 and 2015 Austin Music Awards.

Bruce played with Cracker on their ’93-’94 US Kerosene Hat tour, and with Jason Mraz on his ’08-’09 worldwide tour for We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. Check out Jason Mraz’s Beautiful Mess (Live on Earth) DVD. It's radical!

Bruce helps people make records, producing records for Johnny Nicholas, The Resentments, The Scabs, Matt the Electrician, Poi Dog Pondering, Geoff Muldaur and the Texas Sheiks, and U.K.s Jonathan Whiskerd. His most recently completed project is Johnny Nicholas' 2018 Grammy-nominated release, Too Many Bad Habits.

Bruce fronts his own band, The Arms of Shiva, and has released 3 solo CDs: Bluebird (2006), shorty (2008) and Trap Door (2013), as well as a live All Nude Army CD BHANA (2010). Bruce is currently in the studio working on a new record to be released in 2019.

Until then, peace and love and hugs and happy holidays!
