Stephen Friedland is the man behind his trademark, Brute Force.started in the music business working and performing with The Tokens (Lion Sleeps Tonight). He garnered the praise of Beatles, George Harrison and John Lennon, who released the legendary Brute Force/King of Fuh on Apple Records, 50 yrs ago
EMI/Capitol would not distribute the 45, censoring Brute, and making him the rarest Apple artist. One 45 has sold for about 8K on eBay. Now he is on Come and Get It, The Best of Apple, sharing space with James Taylor, Mary Hopkin and Billy Preston. His albums include: I, Brute Force, Confections of Love, Columbia; a Bar/None CD reissue of his Columbia album;Extemporaneous, Revola reissue of BT Puppy; Adam and Evening single on Warner Bros.: a 45 single on Apcor (Munich, Germany), I Love You So Muchism; Brute has songs recorded by Del Shannon, Bernadette Peters, The Creation, The Tokens, The Happenings, The Chiffons and a Joe Graves outstanding Mo-Townish single, You Beautiful Girl.+ many other artists.
He has 2 Brute Force Records albums on CD Baby...Tour de Brute Force and the radical, Utopian PLANETWORK.

There are a few articles which call attention to Sir Paul McCartney's use of the word "fuh" in his song Fuh You, as being inspired by King of Fuh.

The HBO Martin Scorsese documentary, George Harrison Living in the Material World includes a diary entry by George in which he mentions Brute, and working on King of Fuh, with voice-over by son, Dahni.

He’s portrayed a senior citizen resident in the Irishman, the Hare Krishna adherent in Ghostbusters 1, and as a drunk in Sea of Love. He has appeared in Law and Order, and Birdman. Over the years he has appeared on various TV talk shows, starting with The Merv Griffin Show. He has appeared on The Zacherle Show.

He has hosted the open mic nite at The Players, Gramercy Park NYC, and has performed in comedy club, concert, and festival venues ( SxSW, Truck, Starlight Music Festival DUMBO Arts Festival,) with his daughter, Lilah, (Daughter of Force),& in UK with the genius Gareth Jones and Misty's Big Adventure.

A documentary about Stephen, Brute Force, The Movie (dir. Ben Steinbauer, Winnebago Man), has been at Santa Barbara Int’l Film Festival, BAM, Zagreb Film Festival. he appears in Beatles, Hippies and Hell’s Angels.

Brute Force plays The Director in the Grammy winning Enrique Iglesias/Nicky Jam music video, El Perdon.
A 12 pg. section of A Is For Apple, Vol.2, about Brute, is published in 2017.( Apcor Publishing).
