Album Notes
"Joyful Sky," with stereo versions of the same ten songs that also appear on Bilateral Music III, is rooted in therapeutic healing. It started when Holly Cumming, licensed EMDR therapist, suggested to her musician husband Bryan Cumming making panning versions of his soft instrumental music, to use with her clients.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing,) started by Francine Shapiro in 1987, is a mode of therapy which uses bilateral stimulation to unlock neurological patterns as part of helping clients recover from the emotional pain of traumatic memories.

Part of EMDR is establishing a "safe place" for the client to process negative memories, as the therapist helps the client to establish neural networks to replace the ones which have been triggering negative emotions connected to past trauma. Bilateral stimulation, as regulated by the therapist, assists in helping the client to form new neurological patterns during the session, with the use of a variable speed panning device called Neurotek. The combination of stereo (non-panning) music with the Neurotic gives the therapist the comprehensive resources to offer pleasant listening along with the panning speed that suits each moment of the healing process.
Between sessions, with the personal "safe place" established and available, the patient can continue the healing process, reinforcing the fresh neurological patterns while listening to bilateral music. Bilateral Music has a unique effect on the listener, by providing a steadily changing input source to the brain. The stereo version of the same music has an equally relaxing effect, since it is slow and gentle.

The first Bilateral Music album was released in 2013. Due to its popularity, a second volume was released in 2018, along with the stereo versions of both albums, "Wandering Path" and "Morning Light." Following up, Bilateral Music III was released in 2019, along with its stereo version, "Joyful Sky."
