Album Notes
Her debut album, 'Janet Burgan' showcases such talent as Randy Brecker on trumpet, Marshall Crenshaw, Elaine Caswell, Soozie Tyrell and Lisa Lowell (both from Bruce Springsteen's band) on vocals, Steve Holley (Paul McCartney & Wings, Julian Lennon, Ian Hunter Rant Band) and Elton Reid on drums, Dan Hovey, Jon Gordon and Richard Kennedy on guitars, Gib Wharton on pedal steel guitar, Graham Maby (Natalie Merchant, Joe Jackson, They Might Be Giants) and Lincoln Schleifer on bass.

From her roots in northeastern Ohio, Janet brings a folk sensibility to her music. Growing up in Cuyahoga Falls, (home to Chrissy Hynde, Joe Walsh and Devo) Janet started her musical career as a singer, trombone player and pianist. Following music school at The Ohio University and The University of Akron, she moved to Boston to study voice with Myra Durkin. After her successful musical theatre roles as 'Sarah' in 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Antonia' in 'Man of La Mancha' in Boston, Massachusetts, Janet moved to New York City and quickly became involved in the live music scene. Adding electric bass and acoustic guitars to her instrument arsenal, Janet has led her own bands since 1985.

Since going solo in 1990, Janet has had shows at a variety of venues across the United States, from Tramps in New York City to the Coconut Teaszer in Los Angeles. Some of the people she has shared the stage with include Dwight Yoakam, Dave Alvin, Marcia Ball, Tracy Nelson and Marshall Crenshaw.

Janet lives in New York City and Pennsylvania.
