Album Notes
We are the Burning Dirty Band, a four-piece collective of musical conspirators from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Our sound blends garage-marinated mutant blues, rollicking roots groove, and forward-thinking indie quirkiness. The BDB play Rock and Roll with a "wildly original approach to their muse... full of inspired instrumentation and raw fury" according to An Honest Tune magazine.

Our debut full-length album, "Caught", was recorded in the summer of 2002 with Steve West (Pavement, Marble Valley). It's 50-odd minutes of four guys with guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, a wayward accordion, some post-production weirdness, and a helluva lot of spontaneous soul. An even more focused follow-up album is currently underway, and the band has recently made forays into regional venues such as Top of the Stairs in Blacksburg, VA, The State Theatre in Falls Church, VA, and the Soundquilt Festival. Their third consecutive appearance at the Wilderness Jam festival in September will again provide a glimpse of a live band with an uncanny ear for dynamics, relentless musical inquisitiveness, and what Jesse Jarnow (; calls "a collective sense of humor that ties together distorted Allmans-style guitars... and group-composed weirdness"

I dig'em
I dig this group. I picked up a copy of Relix magazine and there they were in the up and coming section. These guys jam, buy their albums you won't regret it. I would love to see these guys in Buffalo, NY.

Chunky "psychedelic cowfunk" goodness
A very enjoyable disc, fellows. "What Is" is the standout track. It's a mix of everything I love from rock music: the opening vocals sound like Lennon, and from there on there's traces of Pink Floyd, Billy Joel and Elton John, and a little Led Zep. The pianist really complements the action well, and never steps on the guitarist's feet. That ending spacey spiral is friggin' cool too. Damn straight, it's "Southern-fried psychedelia."

Sweet disc guys!
All the songs are pretty energetic and well layed out. I love the interaction between the Guitar and Bass on "What Is" and the way the piano floats over them to really layer the sound. The balance is almost perfect and I can hear all the instruments doing their own thing while still adding to the overall mix. The lyrics and singing are good, not great, but they are unique. Overall, a job well done guys. Good Luck.

Definite Funkabilly
This is jamming, funk, bluegrass, and balls to the wall rock 'n roll all in one. Two very big thumbs up. Muy impressivo.

Great, fun, addicting album!
I am really enjoying this album.... took me way too long to finally grab it, and must say, I am very impressed. Excellent song writing, catchy beats, and an album I'll be spinning frequently many months into the future. Can't wait to see the BDB in person.

No cookie-cutter formula at work here
Through all of the songs on this [disc], one thing is clear. There is no cookie-cutter formula at work here... They are obviously not afraid to just let it go and see what happens. These guys have solid free-form skills and what comes out of it is good music... The disc blends influences of jazz, funk, and good old rock and roll... It is a solid freshman album and leaves promise of more to come.

An Honest Tune- Vol. 5, # 1

All hail the Burning Dirty Band
Caught, the new release by the Burning Dirty Band, is full of inspired instrumentation and raw fury... this is no ordinary group... BDB's wildly original approach to their muse, with its ebbing and flowing peaks and valleys, is uniquely their own... This is one disc that truly aspires to the slang terminology "Sick"... Perhaps they locked four jam/punk aficionados in one very small room, fed them nothing but sugar doughnuts and coffee for 24 hours straight, and Caught was born. All hail the Burning Dirty Band. The free world will never be the same again.

Quirky Virginia boys bust out an album dripping with psychedelic soul
The Burning Dirty Band, a young quartet from
Winchester, Virginia, is... caught in tight grooves and all caught up between making a great studio album that still packs the energy of a live show... "Caught" is four guys, caught on tape, having an amazing time... The band is completely locked into each other.
