ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Since his Debut 2007 release-Say the Word, San Diego Based-Contemporary Jazz Artist Burt Brion is known for playing a wide variety of music at his live shows. Brion believes that the diversity of the music is what gets people out to his shows and have a great time, most often packing and selling out the venues.. Burt's current 2016 release dropping on October 29-The Secret's Out, showcases his true love-Contemporary Jazz Piano but also sprinkles in influences from his 70's and 80's heroes- Billy Joel, Michael Mcdonald and the Eagles. Their influences are heard through his piano progressions, vocal style and harmony.

Towards the end of the album which is 60% Piano driven Smooth Jazz, Brion pays tribute to his classical roots of Baroque music taught to him by his musician parents. The track titled-BBB, starts out classical in the flavor of Bach and Beethoven and is a metaphor of his journey from Classical to Contemporary Music. Another Track titled- All I've Got is a tribute to those who have had to deal with sudden adversity and loss. Finally , as in his 2007 Release-Say the Word- Brion pays tribute to his wife and children in two separate ballad vocal tracks titled- I Can't Imagine and Prayers at Bedtime.

The album also features some of San Diego's notable musicians like guitarist Mark Shapiro and Keyboardist Allan Phillips from Fattburger, Smooth Jazz guitarist Patrick Yandall and guitarist Cocoa Montoya's bassist-Nathan Brown. The rest of the artist featured on the album are all well known in the San Diego Music scene and make equally strong contributions.

For those Smooth jazz Festival goers-Burt was always a favorite participant in KIFM line-up from 2006 to 2011, playing with SJ greats -Warren Hill, Nick Colionne, Jessy J and Craig Chaquico. Like many in the area, Burt hopes that smooth Jazz will return to the prominence it once had in radio- but until then, get your copy of The Secret's Out and ENJOY!!
