by Busted Chandeliers

Busted Chandeliers are an inchoate but oftentimes compelling mix of earthy folk-rock stylings accompanied by keys and ukulele, traces of harmonica, fancy claps, and soulful honest lady vox.

Album Notes
Each of the four women who make up the band are both musicians and songwriters, and each influenced in her own ways by the genres of folk, jazz, pop, rock, and alternative music.

Erin Moore, librarian, is known far and wide throughout the Quad Cities for her raving bass guitar, electric riffs and slides. Erin’s voice combines elements of folk and jazz to create a sound that is at once piercing while also warm, soft. As a songwriter, Erin’s work also draws on the folk and jazz genres, both in terms of sound and theme.

Maureen Carter is an acoustic guitarist, drummer, and ukulele player extraordinaire. Drawing on the raspy voices of female artists such as Janis Joplin, Maureen (or, as friends call her, Mo) tells it like it is whenever she sings. The songs that Mo writes bring a fierce attitude combined with folk and pop sounds, to create some seriously melodic tunes.

Amy Falvey, English teacher, plays keys (while on her Yamaha keyboard, she incessantly dreams of baby grand pianos). As a songwriter heavily influenced by her own interest in poetry and literature, her compositions attempt to merge the depth and richness of the written word with the language of music.

Erin Marie Bertram, pursuing her doctorate in creative writing, is the final member of the band. She plays drum kit and percussion, adding a little vox on occasion. She’s a poet to the bone. And the songs she writes sway with the weight of water, but can’t help keening when the moment is right.

Overall, the Busted Chandeliers are made up of four very different women with diverse interests, but each united in their love of all things beautiful, creative, musical, artistic, and innovative.
